Hi all,

It's the new year already and it's been a hell of a long while since the last time we met in Glasgow.

I would try and arrange for us to meet the day after the second Wednesday of February, 2012-02-09.

I hope we'll be able to use the old venue, s1 offices: could some of you find out if that's still viable?

Moreover, could we all prepare even a short 5-minutes presentation to give at the event?

Since this is the first meeting of the new year, I wouldn't try and impose any topic, so go wild!

After the meeting, as usual, we may retire to one of the many pubs which serve {non-,}alcoholic beverages for all.

New rules:
* any newcomers will have a pint/glass of favourite beverage on me
* any people bringing a presentation will have the same

Look forward to hearing from you all soon!
Please submit any ideas/topics for your talk on the list so people will see who will make it, and
who will bring a talk on which subject :)

Happy new year!
-marco-

Sounds good! I've got a couple of ideas for talks I could give.

Yes, sounds good to me too! I have some ideas, not all Perl-specific. I could talk about my Fortran-refactoring tool (written in Perl) or about a simple wrapper for OpenCL which should make it easy to run GPU kernels from Perl.

Hi folks,

Is the meeting on this Thursday? I've just done some cool work on GPU programming in Perl via OpenCL, thought you'd might want to hear about it :-)

Cheers,

Wim

I'm coming, though I still need to write my talk - working title
"Machine learning in (WLOG) Perl".

I would very much like to be part of this, but i'm not in a position
to contribute anything for this meeting.
If it has been confirmed, what is the schedule?

cheers

Meeting is at 1830 "in front" of the Glasgow Herald and Times building.
I believe the side entrance will likely be used, so meet roughly at the
bars which stop cars from going in.

We seem to have two/three talks lined up so far, which is great!

After the meeting and talks are done, we usually retreat for a friendly
pint at a nearby pub.

Look forward to seeing you all there!

Me too.

Well, apart from my talk's working title, that is — two the same would
be a little odd. I'm going for "The contraindications of context".
