TheDirectorate of Education (DOE), Delhi, issued the Delhi School Calendar 2024 giving the vacation schedule for the upcoming summer break for all government and government-aided schools in the national capital. The school calendar states that summer vacation will commence from May 11 and conclude by June 30 this year. Amid soaring temperatures in the national capital, Delhi in the month of April, the academic session marked its beginning on April 1.
Thus, as per the schedule of this year, students in Delhi schools will get summer holidays for one month and 19 days. Considering the working days in the academic session 2024-25, Delhi schools will remain open for 220 days.
For school teachers June 28 to 30 will be working days. The autumn break will begin on October 9 and will conclude by October 11. Furthermore, winter vacation will commence from January 1 and will end by January 15.
Everyone is waiting for summer vacation, be it teachers or students. However, this year, the holidays in Delhi government schools will be just 15 days instead of about two months. The reason behind this is 'Mission Buniyaad'.
In fact, in the last two years, there has been a loss in the education sector, due to which the government believes that there has been a learning gap among the students. To bridge this gap, additional classes of about 35 days are being organised in the government schools.
Classes will be organised for students from third to ninth grade to prepare them for the future. At the same time, in view of the board examinations for classes 10th to 12th, classes for preparation have been held in summer vacations even earlier.
Although it is obvious that the government has taken a decision, this year in Delhi the heat is also breaking records, so parents of students at government schools are also concerned about their health.
Students enrolled in virtual learning schedules with their brick-and-mortar school campuses do NOT need to apply for P-EBT. Their eligibility will be determined by their school and reported to DCFS for issuance of benefits. See K-12 information on this page.
Eligible students enrolled in an approved fully virtual school system (e.g., University View Academy or Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy) MUST apply for P-EBT benefits through their virtual school by May 11, 2023, following the guidelines for Homeschool/Virtual School Students found here.
The Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) Program was created in Spring 2020 to provide funds for families to buy food while schools were closed due to COVID-19. More P-EBT funds are being issued for the 2022-23 school year and will be available this summer.
