Wanted to give you an update on the situation with the weather. Overall, it
still looks like an active weather period for the next several days. An initial
weather system looks to come through the area late Sunday night and early
on Monday with a risk of strong and possibly a few severe thunderstorms
producing hail up to the size of pennies/nickels as a cold front moves in. The
timing of this system has again sped up a little bit and the primary period of
thunderstorm risk will be midnight to noon Monday, with the greatest
coverage of storms probably occurring in eastern Mississippi.
The much bigger weather system still coming in on Christmas Day into
Tuesday night. The models are now in good agreement on a strong storm
system developing near the Sabine River by midday and tracking into northeast
MS by midnight as it rapidly intensifies over MS. There will be a risk of heavy
rain/possible flooding and significant severe storms including tornadoes
especially southeast of a Natchez to Meridian line, while a possibility of a
changeover to snow Tuesday night could occur over the Delta area.
Unless the model outputs change drastically, we would strongly urge you to
monitor the weather situation closely. We will provide updates as we go, and
if you have any questions do not hesitate to call. I have attached our latest
Graphicasts showing our current thinking.
