Hello, we wondered if you could advise us at all, we own a chalet on Glan gwna which we rent out, last week our customers arrived and left after being refunded by me in full, promptly  and very unhappy that our water supply was brown, after much discussion and glan gwna staff being very unhelpful  and not wishing to speak to my customers they left worrying for their childrens health. Surely if the water is brown it contains contaminants whether organic or mineral something is making it brown, and having spoken to Terry he told me the filters werent coping which suggests to me that unfiltered lake water is coming out of our taps and we are being told its fine to drink. i managed to get a certificate of testing from glan gwna but this was dated in July, the water was clear then. Surely we are entitled to clean water and why arent we getting it? Any help would be appreciated as i cannot afford to lose any more revenue.

I was there briefly on 6th Aug and the water appeared yellowy/brown
when filling a white bath.

I asked neighbour to check theirs and said it was fine - I guess they
just ran the tap or filled a non white sink which would hide any
slight discolouration.

I did also go to reception to report and was advised that no one else
had mentioned it and that they had just spent £50k upgrading the water
system.........no offer to check the water was made.

I haven't had any other adverse feedback so perhaps it was just a
problem caused during the high usage period over the summer holidays.

However I do agree that the park, as supplier of water, does have a
duty of care towards the chalet owners and users - clearly needs
discussing with site owners as presumably they would be legally liable
if any problems caused.

Im fairly sure no harm would be done by showering in such water
although drinking it is another matter. Perhaps as a safeguard one of
the water filtration gadgets on offer would be useful to leave in the
chalet?

I think GGHHA needs to ask how often the site is required to check
water supply and what certifications are produced.

At the end of the day if the site tell hirers it is safe to use but
they refuse to do so that should not really mean they are entitled to
a refund - the provision of a water filter or offer to pay for bottled
water purchased may be a compromise worth considering.

If the site however confirm that the water is unsafe then they should
be providing free bottled water as a minimum - we have a caravan at
another park also and at start of year they did just that when their
water supply had a problem.

Hope this helps.

Phil
