Hey everyone. Don't know if you saw our little blurb in the Saturday
Oregonian. Feels good that our work has been noticed.

CRESTON-KENILWORTH
Neighbors give slice of Southeast Gladstone Street a lift
Southeast Gladstone Street between Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard and 42nd
Avenue just got a facelift.
Residents and City Commissioner Amanda Fritz pulled invasive ivy and
replaced it with native plants and perennials. Neighbors also made
stone and glass mosaics -- which they're calling gladstones -- and
installed them in parking strips.
Residents Morgan Masterman and Ana Inclan signed up to participate in
the project, part of this year's Village Building Convergence, an
effort by nonprofit City Repair in which neighbors create public art
or build community furniture such as benches.
The two women wanted to increase the sense of community in the
neighborhood.
"It felt like a very closed community," said Masterman, who has lived
in Creston-Kenilworth for five years.
But since planning began in January, she has met many neighbors at
brainstorming sessions and a yard sale to raise money for stone for
the mosaics. Bullseye Glass donated the glass. The mosaics were made
over two weekends, ending early this month.
"We made eight large mosaics and about 30 small ones," Masterman said.
"About 15 or 20 people who live on the street came out to help, and
there was a potluck in someone's house every night. It's nice to have
the community engaged."
