Hello, Illinois!
Have you recently added any wonderful staff members to your teams? Are they receiving the Illinois State Updates? If not, let me know, and I will get them added to our mailing list.
We have a new TRENDS out! It is filled with great content, so please take a look. The link is at the bottom of this update. However, there is lots of other info between this blurb and the TRENDS link, so make sure you don't skim too quickly. :o)
All the best,

PDI Faculty Recruitment EXTENDED!
We have extended the deadline for PDI faculty applications.
We have a call for faculty for GLACUHO’s Professional Development Institute 2017. This will be the ninth year PDI is offered by GLACUHO. PDI was created to provide an opportunity for our members with 3-5 years of experience in the housing profession to gain additional development from seasoned professionals. Twenty individuals will be selected to participate in an intentional curriculum developed by five faculty (possibly you!).
If you are selected to be faculty, you will be asked to do the following:
1. Commit to spending the Friday, Saturday and Sunday (February 10-12, 2017) prior to GLACUHO’s Winter Meeting engaged in the PDI (presentation, mentoring, conversations, etc.)
2. Present a 2 hour presentation on a selected area of expertise. This year, applicants are asked to propose their own topics during the application process.
3. Stay overnight at Camp Tecumseh in Brookston, Indiana (free of charge)
4. Mentor 4-5 professionals during the PDI and continue after (if desired by participants)
For your time and dedication, you would receive a small stipend, plus the great reward of knowing you have mentored and given back to professionals in the field.
If you are interested in being considered for a faculty position, please submit an application at http://www.glacuho.org/general/custom.asp?page=PDI_FacultyApp.
As part of the application process, you will need to provide proposed topic(s) for presentation, describe your previous experience with mentorship at your institution or within GLACUHO, and upload a recent resume. We have extended the application deadline for prospective faculty members to Friday, August 19, 2016.
Nominations Now Open
Nominations are now being accepted for appointed and elected leadership roles. As you know, we rely on the time and talent of volunteers to serve the association and continue the work of moving our professional development initiatives forward. I hope you will take a few minutes to share the names of those who you feel would make excellent leaders of our association — including your own.
Most positions require a two-year commitment to our association. President-Elect role requires a three-year commitment. If you or your intended nominee are unable to make that commitment, please connect with me and we can discuss other upcoming involvement opportunities within the association, including committee memberships and task force service.
Nominees will be contacted by a member of the Board of Directors with next steps for pursuing candidacy. Nominations will be accepted until September 15, 2016.
For more information or to submit a nomination, visit our leadership nominations page: https://www.glacuho.org/?Nominations.
Responsibilities will include; Judge the case study on the morning of Monday, November 14, and attend the Case Study Luncheon on Tuesday November 15 (time and location TBD).
