Good afternoon, Illinois!

Below you will find updates from some of the mighty-fine committee work going on around the region. Our Contemporary Issues Committee has a suggested reading for us. Our Professional Foundations committee has announced the book they will be reading for the 2016 GLACUHO Book Club. And, in case that wasn't enough reading, our Health and Wellness Committee has announced a blog series. All of the information can be found below!

If you need a break from all of the reading, start writing! Conference program proposals are being accepted through the beginning of June. More urgently though, you should complete your application for the Mid-Level Institute. Applications are due by April 15th. Again, all this information (and more) can be found below!

All the best,

Aaron Copley-Spivey

The 2016 GLACUHO Summer Book Club!

The Professional Foundations Committee is sponsoring the 2016 GLACUHO Book Club. This year's selection is "Start With Why" by Simon Sinek. A limited number of free copies of the book are available, but all are invited to participate with your own copy of the book.

Here's a synopsis from Sinek's website:

"It doesn't matter what you do, it matters Why you do it." With a little discipline, anyone can learn to inspire. Start With Why offers an unconventional perspective that explains the reasons some leaders and organizations are more innovative, more profitable, command greater loyalties from customers and employees alike and, most importantly, are able to repeat their success over and over.

More information will be available soon so stay tuned!

Our host institution, the University of Cincinnati, is preparing for another outstanding conference, and the Programming & Development committee is again dedicated to providing a strong programmatic component to complement the host committee’s work.

The program proposal form is now open, and you may start here with our Program Submission Guide.

As you begin preparing, please keep in mind that program proposals will be due Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. (CDT). If you have any questions please contact Mollie Rockafellow at progr...@glacuho.org.

Minutes to Fitness

The GLACUHO Health and Wellness Committee would like to announce the beginning of the 2016 Minutes to Fitness. This initiative is intended to encourage and recognize GLACUHO members for minutes dedicated to fitness by having participants log daily the minutes they dedicated to fitness. This could include a building walk, cleaning your apartment, a run, weight lifting, or even yoga! The purpose of this initiative is to get members moving and grooving!

Once you register, you'll receive a link to the log page via email. Be sure to bookmark this link because we hope you'll use it often!

The 10 participants with the most minutes at the end of each month will be recognized via social media, and the 10 members with the most minutes by the annual conference will be recognized at the conference and will receive a health and wellness swag pack!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the
Health and Wellness Chair.
