Minutes to Fitness

The Health and Wellness Committee is pleased to sponsor the 2017 Minutes to Fitness program!

Register once for this program by clicking this section. Participation is free!

You will receive an email with a link to submit your activity. Each day, submit your minutes of intentional exercise. As guidance: walking for 30 minutes at lunch is intentional exercise whereas walking to a meeting is day-to-day movement. The American Heart Association recommends thirty minutes of intentional activity a day, five times a week. You will also experience benefits even if you divide your time into two or three segments of 10 to 15 minutes per day.

The benefits go beyond better health and wellness. Each month, we will highlight the top ten participants via email. Quarterly, we will recognize the top participants with health and wellness swag!

If you have any questions, please email health...@glacuho.org.

Bullet Journaling Webinar

Join the Facilities & Operations Committee for a webinar on March 16, 2017 at 10:00 AM CST.

This webinar will feature the Bullet Journaling productivity tool that provides professionals with a tool that helps balance and manage the competing priorities of University Housing and Residence Life. Whether you are in Assignments/Operations, Facilities, or the Programmatic side of the house, the Bullet Journaling process gives you the ability to organize and structure your priorities based on your personal style. Bullet Journaling also evolves with you as you change or your responsibilities change which makes it a great tool for managing the complex priorities or the basics. This webinar will be presented by Kelly Skinner, Senior Communications Coordinator at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the Facilities and Operations Committee. Kelly Skinner is a passionate power user of the Bullet Journaling productivity tool.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

The Contemporary Issue for this year is Student Advocacy: Helping Support Students with Dissenting Behaviors. Throughout the year, there will be videos in the State Newsletters designed to acclimate the membership to the topic.

This month’s second video is by Tomika Brown-Nagin who comments on the civil rights movement, political pragmatism, and the courage to dissent. The video is approximately 22 minutes long and is quite thought provoking. After watching the video, please feel free to participate in a discussion on Twitter @glacuho #dissentingbehaviors or on the GLACUHO Facebook page.

This video does not necessarily represent the views of GLACUHO, the Contemporary Issues Committee, or it's members. It is designed to promote thought and conversation surrounding the topic of dissent.
