Dear Friends of Glacial Lakes Conservancy,

Our 2012 Annual Event Dinner on Dec 2nd to Celebrate our Founders was a marvelous success. It was a joyous group of 70 for dinner at Margaux to hear from land trust founders Jim Tobin, Kristi Sorenson, Les Laack, Mike Sorenson, Terrie Cooper and Jean Tobin (L to R in attached photo). Two founders of the Sheboygan Area Land Conservancy (as we were first known), Beth and Gary Kiela, were unable to attend.

These six visionaries spoke of how they were relative strangers but were united by a common goal (and some incredible energy) to get conservation rolling in the community. Not only did they do the hard work of incorporating as a non-profit land trust in 1996 but they also created an amazing educational effort of public talks, media releases, and landowner outreach. They credit Gathering Waters grant program and staff member Brian Hotz along with Fischer Creek's "Wisconsin (Rolf) Johnson" with providing much needed input and expertise.

GLC's success today started with the Becky Summers/Ann Knauf Trust Conservation Easement in 1999 and the Point Creek Natural Area acquisition & easement in 2002. How fortunate that Glacial Lakes Conservancy is still going strong 16 years later because of their work and your charitable support!

Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Year - founder Les Laack, who has helped us monitor conservation easement properties since the beginning and helped to create a boundary sign post system to cheer about.
