Dear friends of Glacial Lakes Conservancy,

1) GRASSHOPPER HILL PRESERVE WORK PARTY DAY

I am pleased to report that our first stewardship volunteer Work Party
day at GLC's Grasshopper Hill Preserve on June 9th was a great
success. Ten fabulous volunteers (with Joe Majerus as team leader),
aided by two chainsaws, posted boundary signs, removed refuse, and
rapidly cut down a whole swath of buckthorn and bush honeysuckle
plants. These are two invasive plants that are a priority for removal,
as highlighted in the Preserve's new Management Plan.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to the volunteers who worked hard on a 90-degree
sunny June afternoon! Joe Majerus, Dick Bemis, Mike Sellinger, Lauren
Krieg, Joan Hart, Brian Hart, Chris Guy, Fran Steffes and my sons Joe
and Dan Michel. Photos from the event are now posted on at
www.facebook.com/GlacialLakesConservancy.

Because June is "Invasive Species Awareness Month" we would like to
direct you to a treasure-trove of information. Photos, fact sheets,
videos, grants, partners, and reports for the mildly curious gardener
-- or extremely determined landowner -- can be found here:

One of our GLC Land Team experts, Shirley Griffin, has been helping me
pull garlic mustard at Grasshopper Hill. She reported that her recent
trip to the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest for an annual bird
survey was a joy to behold, in part because of its lack of non-native
vegetation.

2) VOLUNTEER S.O.S. FOR "VERTICAL RESPONSE" SOFTWARE APPLICATION;
HELP!

While our GLC Google Group emails are wonderful, GLC would like to
move and upgrade to Vertical Response -- an email service free to non-
profits. (We have the account but not the patience it takes to figure
it out.) If you have Vertical Response expertise and are willing to
mentor that knowledge and help with set-up, please contact me at the
GLC office.

3) NEXT UP: THE BELLA TERRA CONSERVATION EASEMENT LUNCH AND LAND WALK
CELEBRATION, JULY 28TH

Want to help celebrate one of Glacial Lakes Conservancy's Sheboygan
County conservation easements? It is never too early to register.
Another notice will be sent as a reminder. Registration ends July
26th.

Happy summer!
