Hi group, you may have noticed that there is also an Android GKOS
keyboard application available in the Android Market since October 3,
2010. The first test versions were available already beginning of
August.

There seems to be quite a big difference depending on which phone you
use the app. Some phones do not have 'real' multitouch but mainly
pinch-to-zoom capabilty (HTC Desire / Nexus One). Still you can use
the GKOS application on them but with a poor resonse compared to the
devices with a genuine multitouch screen.

Are the sources for that available online anywhere? I only ask, as
it's not currently available for my X10 Mini Pro.

The application is available in Android Market for all Android phones.
Just search the apps for 'gkos'. However it might be that your X10
Mini is not a multi touch device and chording is therefore impossible.
The resolution might also cause problems as the app has been developed
mainly for high resolution screens. - The source is not available.

Why not open source? And where I can download the .apk if I don't have
internet conection in my smartphone?

Any plans for Portuguese and Esperanto support? I can give the special
characters list with the respective frequencies of use.

I also have some ideas for touchscreen implementations of gkos, but
I'm not sure I want to share with an non-free project... and I need
more time to elaborate them anyway, that I don't have right now.

René

Thanks, a frequency list would be useful for Portuguese to check the
current plan.

Esperanto should not be a problem either.

Here you have the development packages for downloading to your PC
first:

v.92b should be the about the same as in Android Market at the moment.

Any ideas related to these?

GKOS apps are free all right.

There is Portuguese and Esperanto included in "ComboKey Plus" Android app. ComboKey is a further development of GKOS to add usability on touchscreens.
