I was delighted to no notice that an open source project has been
started to develop GKOS software for linux. It will later include USB
connection and hardware including a microcontroller based keypad.

that's nice
i have been tinkering with sanskrit keyboard by modifying
the 'C' file in linux .. but i was able to get only lowe/upper case
combos .. right(grey)Alt and ShiftRtAlt combos couldn't be coded

i put it in the PKSharmaKolkata googleGroup in the files area

the c file is named "in" and is in the files area

but it is for a regular keyboard

the gkos style of input will be great !

and .. naturally .. sanskrit/hindi/bengali etc would be also nice

thanks for the news

Toggling between the native (Sanskrit) set and the English set has
been specified as [Alt] [123abc] but because Alt is in other use in
Sanskrit layout we'll have to use a Chordon (no release of keys
inbetween) [Alt]>[123abc]. I will do the necessary addition to the
gambas app code soon.

you can already enter standard GKOS 123 Mode by [123abc] directly from
Sanskrit typing at the latest version
