I've been using the PageFlip Firefly for the last few years with an iPad and the ForScore app. It's been an amazingly essential companion for me all over the world on concert stages from San Francisco to Zurich. It goes with me everywhere I go, and I can't leave home without it! It's the only Bluetooth pedal I will use, and it's been incredibly reliable for me.

Grammy-winning pianist, arranger, composer, and conductor. Played piano/synthesizers on albums with Michael Jackson, Lou Rawls, Patti LaBelle, Ray Charles, Whitney Houston, Billy Joel, Bette Midler, Barry Manilow, John Denver, Olivia Newton-John, and others.

As a musician, it can be very disruptive to turn pages of sheet music when your hands are busy playing an instrument. A need clearly exists for a hands-free solution, which is why we created a series of Bluetooth pedals. With the tap of our Butterfly, Firefly or Dragonfly pedal, musicians can now enjoy the convenience of hands-free page turning and keep their focus on the music.

Hi, I've seen a few threads now saying page turning transitions are outdated and rely on flash which no longer exists. Can anyone recommend the best way to move between pages in a digital brochure/ magazine?

Yes, to expand on Jonathan's reply, Publish Online might be the way to go. You can do so much with interactivity in InDesign and Publish Online. Here are some examples, check them out. (This example document itself shows a simple page transition you can do with Publish Online, but not the page curl you mention--that is old style, for sure!).

I am also looking for a page turn animation. I agree it was possible with Flash. That doesn't mean the function (animation?) is no longer design/business requirement. Via third party, I've seen very nicely contained flipbooks with easy, elegant page turns. I am disappointed that Adobe does not offer a standard animation that imitates a page turn. I know I can fly in, or swirl in, etc., Believe it or not, people just don't see the L/R page turn arrows on the EPUB template. What I need to meet the business requirement is a simple page turn. Any ideas/tips?

I have used a Cicada Page Flip pedal for many years to turn pages on song lyrics in Dropbox files on my iPad. Suddenly the pedal does not turn the pages, even though it instantly connects via Bluetooth and no preferences have changed. Any ideas what's up?

Thanks for the reply. I have re-booted, checked preferences, batteries, the phases of the moon and the Page Flip folks did a review and said the pedal is fine. It has to be the iPad. No changes to anything, so I am baffled.

I recently loaded iOS 15.4.1 and I wonder if that could have caused the issue, but nothing on the Apple site indicates a preference change or other problem. The Page Flip folks had me do some tests and the pedal is performing as it should. But it will no longer turn pages in Dropbox text files. I am baffled.

This seems like such a silly question, but! When playing the piano, I sometimes struggle to turn the pages of my music without noticeably sacrificing the sound of the piece or making the book / sheets fall. For a complicated piece where there isn't a break in one hand that would allow raising a hand to turn the page, is there a trick I can use to quickly flip the page of music and keep the music going?

One of the tricks you can use is one I have learned watching Gustav Leonhardt in concert. For difficult page turns, he uses a little copy of the start of the next page that he pastes on the side of the preceding right page as a flip.

Not only is it easier on his memory but it allows to grab the page quickly and turn it efficiently. Now that scanners and printers exist, this is really easy to do.Leonhardt often copied the parts by hand (which is not bad for memory).

A related thing you can do is to copy the right and left side and putting them in front of you at the same time when studying the passage. It will flow better in general, you will be less dependent of the precise moment you do the page turns, when you use the original score (which is usually required in concert for copyright reasons).
