Hi Varun,
gitools requires Java 7 on your system. It gives some problems with Java 8 and the current version it's not working with Java 9.
Due to this problems we are testing an alternative way to install it using conda package manager that it takes care of this dependency version problems.
Then run "anaconda-navigator" go to the "Channels" and add the channel "bbglag". After this gitools will be available as an application and you will be able to install and run it.
Or if you want to use only the command line, after installing Anaconda (or miniconda) you can install gitools like this "conda install -c bbglab gitools" and then run it "gitools"
Tell me if this solution is working for you.
Bests,
Jordi
