Hi there!

Everytime I execute git push from some specific repository, the W+ permissions are lost for my user. Any clue about what is happening?

Thanks in advance for the help,
Best regards

You may have to provide much more detail than that or give us steps to
replicate the problem.

Also, if the server OS is mac or windows I will bow out of the
discussion; perhaps someone else can help...

The server OS is Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS. Please, tell me what details should I provide in order to obtain some help.

Meanwhile, I can tell you what just happened, being the repo configuration lost again:
  1. Added a submodule to a given repository (the submodule repository is hosted on the same git server)
  2. Commit and push the change
  3. Pull repo gitolite-admin
  4. My local repo was updated, being the W+ permissions lost again
Thanks for the help,

(1) I dont know anything about submodules; can you replicate this
without, since gitolite actually doesn't care?

(2) How about a full sequence of steps to replicate this, starting
from a fresh install? Because I don't know what you mean by "W+
permission lost again".

Complete commands and outputs will help.

I will try to provide all the information you may need:
  • Gitolite was installed through apt-get install gitolite. Everything went well, less creating the admin user. To fulfill this, I copied my public key to gitolite server and executed gl-setup /tmp/mypublickey.pub. After that, my user was successfully created, since I was able to clone the gitolite-admin repository into my workstation.
  • Example of my gitolite.conf:
repo    reponame
        RW+     =       ruigoncalves
  • Like I said in a previous post, everytime I do a git push into the remote repo, the write and rewind permissions are lost. Due to this, I have to update the gitolite-admin repo through git pull, configure and commit the desired permissions and push them again to the remote gitolite-repo.
Besides me, gitolite is also used by Redmine since is a requirement of the Redmine git hosting plugin. What other information can I provide?

Thanks in advance for the help,
Best regards
