Branch visualization like GitK

I was curious if there are any plans on doing branch visualization
like GitK where you can see where branches break and come back into
each other?

Definitely on the agenda, but I haven't quiet worked out all the details on how 

I'm going to approach it.

I was doodling some ideas today during a boring meeting; a subway-map–
like visualization might work really nicely, showing where branches
combine and separate. I’ll try to scan or reillustrate some of the
sketches.
