काव्यं करोति सुकविः सहृदय एव व्यनक्ति तत्तत्त्वम् ।
रत्नं खनिः प्रसूते रचयति शिल्पी तु तत्सुषमान् ॥
kāvyaṃ karoti sukaviḥ sahṛdaya eva vyanakti tattattvam |
ratnaṃ khaniḥ prasūte racayati śilpī tu tatsuṣamān ||
A good poet composes a poem, but it is the understanding critic that brings out its charms ; a mine produces a precious stone (in a crude stage) but it is the goldsmith who burnishes its brilliance.
