The USA L-1 Visa is a non-immigrant work visa designed for employees of international companies who are being transferred to a branch, subsidiary, affiliate, or parent company in the United States. It is commonly known as the Intra-Company Transferee Visa and is a great option for multinational organizations that want to move key employees to their US operations. The L-1 visa is mainly issued to managers, executives, and employees with specialized knowledge.

The L-1 visa is divided into two categories: L-1A and L-1B. The L-1A visa is for executives and managers who are transferred to manage a US office or business operations. The L-1B visa is for employees who have specialized knowledge of the company’s products, services, processes, or systems. To qualify, the employee must have worked with the company outside the USA for at least one continuous year within the last three years.

One of the major benefits of the L-1 visa is that it does not require a lottery system like the H-1B visa, making it faster and more predictable. The L-1A visa is usually granted for up to 7 years, while the L-1B visa can be valid for up to 5 years, depending on the case. The visa holder can also bring dependents under the L-2 visa, and in many cases, L-2 spouses are eligible to work in the USA.
