Thanks Dr  Sita . Hari Om .

I  fully understand  your point . It  is  not  easy to understand these directives , especially  , because a lot of us are disjointed from our culture – what I mean  here is  that  generations after generations have  unwittingly  retained some  rituals  and slowly  withdrawn the essence  of our culture as they pass it onto the next generation.

Compounded  by this  is the fact one  needs to  have clarity , which is  not easily forthcoming , to  develop  conviction to follow these ideals.

Yes, it is  true that  we will have a lot of  questions / doubts and to  some of which  we might not get  ready answers , unless we are lucky !.

I am  attempting to  answer your  query .Truly speaking , I have also been through and going through a lot  of  questions  on mind,  and in the absence  of a guide readily available , I try to  rationalize and arrive at some  conclusion which might  temporarily at least put my  impatient mind  to rest. I'd suggest  that  you go through the material  attached in detail  subsequent  to  the   posting of  the later  part of  Sadhana Chathustayam  detailing Shat Sampathi and Mumukshathva

There  is  no strict sequence  ordained by the  Acharya(s) in the Practice  of  or embellishing these qualities , as we have already  mentioned.

Yet,  there  is  a  logical sequence  that  we may  discern   in  the pursuit of these qualities..

We have to  begin  with  Viveka – the rationalization process. In fact it  should be  termed as  Vivechanam ,Which is an ongoing  process. Viveka  , if taken  as an adjective to  the  intellect ,  is  a State , when  it  is pure and sharp  enough  ( Pragyna – Prakarsha Gyan ). Till then it will be deemed as continuous process( Vivechanam).I  take Shradha  as an  'A Priori' notion – a prerequisite  . Likewise  I am also  inclined  to consider Mumukshathva , which is the last  of the qualities in the order , as a prerequisite ( at least the Initial  level - Mandha   Mumukshathva ). Please  note that the usage Mandha  here is only  used in  a  relative  manner , since Mumukshathva is  defined as a strong  zeal already)

One of  the rules  I  have resorted  to is categorise these qualities  into a  Process  ( that is  on going )- State Matrix ( A  State  , I generally  take  as an  end  even if  it  serves  as a  means to another end )

I  am   attaching a file named  ' Shatgunaas-Progress ' where in I  have  attempted  categorise  these  qualities as either a state or a Process. Logically ,  Processes  would precede the State . One   might  be  looking  at  these  from a different  perspective and hence the nomenclature may  vary ! .

Please feel    to  revert  with your  comments / suggestions

Dear Krishnan

It'd be nice  if you could clarify with  further detail on sequential
order of these four fold qualifications- Saadhana Chathushtayam
May be the  next posting will clear my doubts, but yet  some
additional inputs will be of great help even at this  stage
