tenancy agreements

I've got an assured tenancy and I've been paying full rent for some years.
I'd like to buy my home but I can't due to the agreement only being assured.

How would I go about getting a secured tenancy from my present housing
association. Or should I move? Would any association offer me the kind of
tenancy agreement which will at some point allow me to buy?
