Gwinnett County, GA
Please spay or neuter your pet!
These are animals that are viewed as the "most adoptable" that are in the
Gwinnett County Animal Control Shelter. This listing will be updated once a
week. There are more animals in the shelter than this, some of which are
simply older. The Shelter generally is flooded with lab & lab mixes, so
these aren't listed as frequently.
This listing is provided by Friends of the Shelter.

Further Information:
Pet of the Week:
Animals listed as Pet of the Week are chosen by the Friends of the Shelter,
and are pictured in a weekly ad. This ad is run in the Gwinnett Extra in the
Atlanta Journal & Constitution every Saturday.
Spaying/Neutering:
All animals adopted from the shelter are required to be spayed and neutered
per House Bill #1181 Mandatory State Sterilization Law. Not
spaying/neutering these animals makes the adopter subject to a fine of up to
$200.
Calling Animal Control:
Please do not call Animal Control in reference to the above animals as they
are inundated with calls everyday. The shelter is located at the corner of
Hi Hope Rd and Hwy 316 in Lawrenceville. Please come to the kennel to visit
these animals. Some animals listed here may not be at the shelter long as
there is a large turnover everyday. Adoptions are done on a first come first
serve basis. The shelter hours are as follows:
Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 10-4:45
Tuesday from 10-5:45
Saturday from 9:30-1:45
The shelter is closed Wednesday and Sunday.
Rescue Groups:
It is Animal Control's policy to try to adopt purebred animals at the
shelter level first. As a last resort Purebred Rescue groups will be called.
If you are interested in an animal and do not want to wait for the shelter
to contact you, you are welcome to come and adopt the animal for the $55
adoption fee (and you will be liable for spaying and neutering). There is no
set time for an animals stay once they are placed up for adoption.
