i need to replace the windows login client with a customized one which
will interface with a server. does anyone know where the client is, wrt
inf/vxd/MS-technology-of-the-week files, or what dll's make up the login
routines? as soon as this is done i can go back to unix hacking, and
will be a much happier person.

I don't care enough to find out for you, but you could always see for
yourself. Use regmon (from sysinternals.com) to see what is changed
when changing your primary logon in 9x. You might also get some good
info using filemon, but I would think there's just a registry entry
pointing to the file that is to be used (or I could be totally wrong).

I'm sure you have gotten past this by now, but it's msgina.dll that
does this on NT.
