After installing the mingwGitDevEnv installer we currently have
only msys.bat. This batch file starts a shell in a *mingw* environment.
I think the naming, although inherited from upstream, is very unfortunate.

We also miss here a batch script to start a shell in a msys environment.

I therefore propose to rename msys.bat to start-mingw-shell.bat and add
a start-msys-shell.bat with the contents:
---------
start-mingw-shell.bat MSYS
----------

This should then make the situation a bit clearer.

What do you think?

My intention was to not have any batch files, but simply use "Git
Bash.vbs" instead. And I'd also like to keep "msys.bat" around to
resemble upstream MSYS as closely as possible.

What's the use case for batch files, i.e. why isn't "Git Bash.vbs" sufficient?

My use case is that I want to start a mingw/msys shell with just a
double click.

Git Bash.vbs is sufficient for starting a mingw shell.
But how do you start a msys shell with Git bash.vbs?
This is obviously something only mingwgitdevenv-dev people need. But for
me the need arises quite often :)

"Git Bash.vbs" takes optional arguments, see the "Git Development
Environment (MSYS Mode)" start menu shortcut. If you pass "MSYS", you
get an MSYS shell :-) The second optional argument is the directory to
start in, very convenient to use from within the file manager of your
choice to start a shell in the currently selected directory. So just
copy that shortcut from teh start menu to where ever you want it to be
able to start an MSYS shell with a double-click :-)

Ah! That was the missing information. I never bothered to look in the
startmenu. Problem solved :)
