Hi,

I recently downloaded Git for Windows and can't keep getting "Permission denied" as a response. This also displays when I type in "ls" command:

LICENSE.txt        cmd/  git-bash.exe*  proc/         unins000.exe*
ReleaseNotes.html  dev/  git-cmd.exe*   tmp/          unins000.msg
bin/               etc/  mingw64/       unins000.dat  usr/

I need help navigating through this problem.

Thank you,

Kane

Hi Donald,

I re-Cc:ed Kane, who you dropped in your reply.

From the report, it is quite unclear what the response responds to. I can
only guess that it was something like `echo >hello.txt` given that the
current directory is Git for Windows' "root" directory, i.e. `C:\Program
Files\Git` (which is intentionally not writable).

If you simply type `cd` and then hit Enter, and then try again, does that
fix your problem?

Ciao,
Johannes

Johannes,
Your solution worked! Only typing cd and hitting enter worked!
