git gc problem after update to 2.35

I updated git from 2.28 to 2.35 . I am on windows.

I updated on three different machines and on each of them I am getting the error.

$ git gc
error: Could not read 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Same issue but on macOS Monterey, git version 2.35.1

worry about, just unnecessary chattiness.

To work around until a fix is released, delete empty reflog files in
