Call for Abstracts – AGU Session H094: Intelligent River Basin Management: Advances in Monitoring, Modeling, and Managing Water Resources

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite abstract submissions for our AGU Fall Meeting 2025 session:

H094 – Intelligent River Basin Management: Advances in Monitoring, Modeling, and Managing Water Resources

In an era marked by rising climate variability, extreme hydrological events, and increasing competition for water resources, the science and practice of river basin management are undergoing rapid transformation. This session will explore intelligent, technology-driven approaches that integrate Earth observations, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and hydrological modeling to enable smart, adaptive, and climate-resilient river basin management.

We welcome contributions on topics including:

• Remote sensing applications for dynamic monitoring of water quantity and quality
• Physics-informed and AI-based Decision Support Systems for basin-scale water management
• Integrated river basin planning, including waterbody rejuvenation and conjunctive use
• Reservoir operation models and adaptive tools for tracking water dynamics and ecosystem health
• Case studies involving collaboration with governmental or basin management authorities

This session brings together researchers, practitioners, and decision-makers working at the intersection of environmental intelligence, emerging technologies, and basin-scale governance. Our aim is to highlight scalable, operational solutions that advance sustainable and climate-resilient water management.
