Hi,

I just read the third newsletter of the change4kosovo project and apparently a lot of the background work in contracting companies and requirements for some systems that they want to build is done.
But a relevant piece of information is that:

"The Project will support the municipalities with the field work for data gathering with the contracting of approximately 200 data collectors and 5 regional coordinators."

I have already contacted before with the head of the project to discuss, among other things, the possibility of including youth in doing this work. The collected data will be distributed through a GeoPortal, for which I am not sure it will be free, but I am going to ask.

Question to FLOSSK is: if these data collectors are not contracted yet, do you want me to get anyone from FLOSSK in touch with them to ask if it is possible to include FLOSSK youngsters in the field mapping work, in return for free coordinates (so that they can be later uploaded to OSM) and some daily stipend for food and transportation for the data collectors?

let me know,
arbnor

not so fast, they will train them to map the trashes in their mobile apps which my default: http://www.i.imgur.com/ezKAG.jpg and I am not seeing any option to change it to osm.

bad draft, i was trying to say that they will train them to map the trashes using the international app (http://www.letsdoitworld.org/android-app-manual) on their smartphones android or iphone which by default uses Google Maps and I didn't see any option to change it to OSM as shown in the picture below http://www.i.imgur.com/ezKAG.jpg

Well show me the source of the app.
We can just accept geotagged pictures that people upload.

You can use digikam :
"So for this technique to work its magic, you must sync the time on
your Android device with your camera. When you head for a photo walk,
launch Open GPS Tracker on your Android device and start a new
tracking session."
http://scribblesandsnaps.wordpress.com/2011/02/16/geotag-photos-with-open-gps-tracker-and-digikam/

Here is another app :
https://sites.google.com/site/geotaggerandr/

So we could just setup a simple sahana /crowdmap app for them
https://crowdmap.com/mhi/ to report incidents of trash

Dear Mike,

I talked yesterday to the guy who is heading this EU project and specifically to the coordinator who is in charge for the addressing part. As he said, their idea is that the municipalities will identify these mappers (who according to EU rules have to have at least 3 years of working experience) to, essentially, map entrances of buildings. They will print physical maps and all that mappers have to do is identify the number of entrances and apartments in a particular building and note it down in the printed map. I don't think they will hand over GPS-es to these mappers.

However, I was thinking that while doing this mapping work, some of the FLOSSK members, who already have experience in this, would have the GPS-es that you have now (if any) and we can arrange for a few more (3 maximum) from the Innovations Lab and take coordinates of points of interests while getting a stipend from this project.

So, bottom line is that: I can get you in touch with the person who is coordinating this work, if FLOSSK will provide a list of people who are interested to do this work and in what municipalities (starting from end of May I think it was) in return for a the terms that would have to be negotiated with them at a later stage.

Best,
Arbnor

Well our work on flossk is based on a volunteer effort, this mailing list is the best place to find people but not all of them read and respond all the time.

The best way to attract people is to hold a kick off meeting in prishtina and get people to come in person,  arianit, gent, altin and ardian are good contacts for that

I am in USA this week so I dont think I will be on the same time zone to coordinate very well.

ok then...can i ask to make a list of people who would be interested to do such work. The list of available people needs to be categorized according to municipalities.
Gent, Altin do you think you can have something ready by next Friday (13th of april)?
