As a follow up to this post, the MyGeodata Converter runs on the open source GDAL library. This same library can be accessed through the Python module of ArcGIS. More information on doing this can be found at http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=1eec30bf5fa042a5a2227b094db89441. This will allow you to convert raster data layers into the Idrisi format needed for biomapper in ArcGIS itself. As before, I haven't tried this out but if any one does and if they have any feedback, feel free to post on this thread.

Thanks to Shaun Walbridge from ESRI for suggesting this way of doing the required conversions in ArcGIS.

All the best,

Colin

Hi All,

I've just come across a potentially useful website (called MyGeodata Converter) that apparently allows you to convert GIS data layers (raster or feature) between a large number of data layer formats, including all the common ones.

The reason I was looking for it was to try and find something to convert ArcGIS rasters into the Idrisi format needed for the Biomapper software for creating ENFA habitat models.

I haven't tried it and it says it's still undergoing testing but if it can do what it's promising, it could be very useful for ecologists and marine biologists working with GIS.

Here's the link to the site: http://converter.mygeodata.eu/.

If any of you try it and find it works, can you post this information here (letting us know what formats you were converting between)? Similarly, if you try it and it doesn't work, can you let others know on this thread (again letting us know what formats you were trying to convert between)?

Thanks.

All the best,

Colin
