Problems With Deleting Fields In ArcGIS 10

I was very surprised to day when using ArcGIS 10 to find that the
delete field function in the attribute table window did not work.
Apparently this is a known problem with ArcGIS 10 and has been fixed
in later updates, but if you encounter this problem, I found the work-
around provided on this link very useful:

Basically, the work-around involves using going into the TOOLBOX
window and selecting DATA MANAGEMENT TOOLS> FIELDS> DELETE FIELDS.
This allows you to delete a field from the attribute table of a data
layer without having to open the attribute table window. For some
reason this tool works even if the version in the attibute table
window itself does not.
