Don't forget there is a meeting tonight at Green Valley (weather permitting) covering the up coming season for Academy - check the BAYFA web site for the time.

Also, so that you'll know before you get there; I will not be returning to coach the team this season. Challenger will assign one of their coaches to the team.

Good luck in the upcoming season, thanks.

Ken

All:
Just a quick update on the meeting from last night.  Other parents that were there please help me fill in the gaps or correct me where I misinterpreted something.

NOTE:  there is a free (I think?) Skills session tonight (Wed) at 6pm up at Green Valley.  I think it is primarily aimed at the Academy participants although I could be wrong.  They are encouraging each of the girls to show up so that they can get a jump on the upcoming season.

*  Season is not yet finalized but the schedule should match very closely with the Rec season (last week of August through end of Oct or beginning of Nov)

*  Games will be on Sunday afternoon/evening.  The organizations have tried to hammer out the communication issues that plagued the league last season.  Scheduling conflicts should be lessened although rescheduleing rainouts of Rec games takes priority.

*  1 practice and 1 Skills session per week (Wednesdays and Thursdays).  So if you are a coach of a rec team then plan accordingly.

*  Coaching duties will be taken over by the Challenger organization.  Likely that our coach(es) will be the young men that ran the Skills sessions last spring.

*  BAYFA and NW Fort Worth are combining their academy programs so we should expect to see a few girls from that group join our team.

*  Expect that there will be 2+ BAYFA U8 girl teams due to an increase in the number of players participating.  The rosters will not be set in stone so girls will float back and forth between the two teams.  It is not entirely clear what the logic will be when moving a child between teams.

*  More regional organizations are now participating although the total number of teams has not yet been finalized.  Our core group will still be in the Mid-Cities, Grapevine, Trophy Club, Keller, NW Fort Worth area.

*  The Academy program has evolved into a 3-tiered level.  As our girls and/or team progresses in talent then so to can the competition.  It is my understanding that our team will compete in the bottom level initially.  Also, a child can move freely throughout the levels at this age.  Note that the higher the level then the more travel will be involved (as far as The Colony or Frisco).

Hope that this helps.  Weather permitting then I'll see you tonight at the Skills session.

Mark

At the meeting they stated that Academy sign-ups would start in about a week. So I would expect that we can start signing up within the next few days.
