Hi all,

Happy Friday! A few Girl Develop It Columbus updates for your weekend:

Upcoming GDIC Classes

Classes are underway even as we speak! The Newbie HTML/CSS finished this past Tuesday, and the following classes are coming up:

Beyond the Basics of HTML/CSS - starts this Tuesday, March 4th; only a few spots left!

JavaScript - starting the first week of April

Ruby - starting the first week of May

Classes will continue to be posted to the Meetup group, so keep looking there for updates. After May, our next round of classes is slated for September, and will likely run through the fall.

As always, you can RSVP for a class directly through Meetup, and we have a few scholarships available if cost is a barrier.

Upcoming GDIC Events

Code and Coffee - Tuesday, March 11th

Hack Night - Wednesday, March 26th

Raspberry Pi and Pie Workshop - April (details TBA)

Other Recommended Events

Git/Github Workshop by … Github !

Note: This not a Girl Develop It event, but all GDIC members are invited! This is an amazing opportunity to learn from the folks at Github themselves.

Here’s the low-down:

GitHub will be hosting a free Git/GitHub workshop this Monday, March 3rd from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. Come learn from the industries best, and get free pizza while you're there.

Please sign up for the workshop here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/github-workshop-at-osu-tickets-1211151587. Space is limited to the first 80 people.

Location: Technology Commercialization Office right near campus (1524 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43201). You can park at the South Campus Gateway parking garage and walk right over.

Bring your laptops. If you have any other questions please email Mark Tareshawty at taresh...@osu.edu.

Startup Weekend Columbus - March 28-30

We’re working with the Startup Weekend organizers to acquiring discounted tickets for GDIC members and/or to organize a formal GDIC field trip to the event. If you’re interested in attending, let us know!

Job Postings

Orange Development (1 Junior Dev, 2 Senior Dev positions) -  I have 3 positions available in our Columbus office. I work in NYC (and work with our Columbus group regularly) -- we share info, have fun, develop amazing software and are a very collaborative team. We're mostly interested in HTML5/CSS3/Javascript, and I'm helping to train our teams in Angular (we're fans of Angular + web sockets). Additional details: corporate, competitive salary, full benefits. Will also train if the developers have HTML5/CSS/JS experience but are new to AngularJS. *IF* someone is looking for work, please contact me at dr...@orangedevelopment.com - would be happy to give some details.

Member Perks

The Women’s Coding Collective has generously offered our members $17 off their first online course. More information:
