Hello all!
In the last few months, we've been working hard to build Girl Develop It Columbus and expand the resources we can provide to members. As part of our efforts, we're working with the organizers at Startup Weekend to mutually provide resources to aspiring and established female coders in the community. Thus, without further ado, we have 10 last minute tickets to attend Startup Weekend this weekend (March 1st-3rd) for free.
If you're not familiar with Startup Weekend, it is
an event that brings together designers, developers and business-minded individuals to build a startup from the ground up in a single weekend. Attendees break off in groups on Friday and spend Friday, Saturday, and Sunday hacking away, designing, developing, and building businesses around ideas. The event is full of energy and adrenaline and culminates on Sunday with final pitches. You can read more about the event at http://columbus.startupweekend.org/.
Startup Weekend is open to all skill levels. Even if you're just getting started with coding, this is a great opportunity to get more experience, receive some mentorship, and become more involved in the tech community. If you're interested but still on the fence, one of the Startup Weekend organizers will be at Hack Night tonight (from 7-9pm at Wild Goose Creative) to answer questions. We'll announce the promo code there. If we have remaining tickets, I'll send out the code post-Hack Night as well. Stay tuned.
In other news, we've appointed a new Outreach Coordinator (the fabulous Connie Sheehan), and we're going to be working non-stop on outreach and building the Girl Develop It Columbus community over the next few months. If you have any ideas (groups we should connect with, potential teachers or TAs, etc.) or would like to take a more active role in Girl Develop It, speak up! Press reply and send me a message. I would love to hear from you.
Best,
Kim
