The Universal Pokemon Randomizer is a program which will give you a new experience playing Pokemon games. In the same vein as previously released randomizers, it provides a customized gameplay experience by allowing you to randomize many things:
It's thorough. A decent amount of attention to detail has been invested in this randomizer and so pesky parts of the original games are unlikely to show through. For example, a trainer's random Pokemon will not suddenly use moves they were predefined to use in the original game - they will fully obey the (randomized or not) movesets they have been provided with.

The randomizer will now not allow the user to randomize 3DS games if it was not started via the launcher, to prevent users from encountering "loading forever" errors. A pop-up message will alert the user if this is the case. The launcher will also give a pop-up error message if it fails to start (which usually happens due to an incompatible Java version). A new wiki page describes the randomizer's Java requirements.
I am currently trying to make a randomizer where I can add/edit Pokémon. I have a randomized Platinum ready for playing but apparently PKHeX didn't like it. The randomizer I made doesn't change the typing, abilities, move sets, or anything like that (I did edit evolution methods though). I was able to edit the non-randomized version I randomized so I know that it's the randomized version. The specific error message it gave me was that the file was unsupported, so I might have to do an egglocke or something, I was just wondering if it would ever be possible to do a PKHeX edit on a randomizer.
Either your save file isn't actually a save file (some people dump it wrong, don't save in-game etc; thus data doesn't match a save's format), or PKHeX cannot recognize it as a Pokemon save file, due to certain modifications a ROM hack does to it. Tho if it was a save from purely a randomizer, then it is likely the former.
the items that are sold in essential shows like pokemon centers are not randomized. Items lying around in the overworld, hidden items, items you recieve from NPCs are all randomized. Try talking to the vendor next to the pokecenter in telnor town and see if she gives you 5 of something else instead of pokeballs.
Hello, I am new to the desmume way of playing pokemon but I would really like to use the randomizer. I make the randomized file for pokemon black 2 and save it as a nds. file but every time I go to load it on desmume it just crashes immediately please help.
This tutorial teaches you how to randomize a Pokémon ROM on your Windows- or Mac-based emulator. You'll use the Universal Randomizer program for any Pokémon game on any computer for generations one through five, but only Windows users can randomize generations six and seven by using the PK3DS randomizer.
The Universal Randomizer allows randomization of all Pokemon generations, from one to five. It will require the download of a .ZIP file. Simply extract all of the files within the .ZIP file and the Universal Randomizer will be ready to use. For those looking to randomizer past generation five, PK3DS, and a tool called PackHack will be needed, rather than the Universal Randomizer.
