Recently I ordered an Odroid C2 to test how good it is for my emulation machine purposes.
I compiled Batocera 5.1 but also downloaded the 5.1 image from the website.
Eveything is working pretty fine, except PSX and Dreamcast emulation.

The PSX emulator is pretty choppy but I don't know why as the C2 should usually have more power than a RPi3.
When trying to launch a Dreamcast .cdi, ES tries to start Reicast, the screen gets black and 2 seconds later it gets back to the ES GUI.

For the dreamcast, i've (just) answer here :
-linux.xorhub.com/wiki/doku.php?id=en:not_supported_emulators
the dreamcast emulator doesn't support 64bit. (c2 is 64 bit)
however, i get a hint that it could be possible to make c2 to run in 32 bits ; so, as soon as i get the time, i'll check this point.
For the psx, i didn't notice this point, so let me retry to play a game tonight or in the next days.
there are several possibilities. in the best case, it's just the compilation options that i set that were not the best.
let me check this point too.

Thanks for the wiki link regarding Reicast. I hoped it was just a configuration problem before compilation ?
Then we have to wait for the makers/contributors of Reicast to fullfill this platform switch.

I will send the C2 back and get it replaced by an XU4.
Anyway I personally know sraue (OpenELEC founder - we work for the same company) and if you want me to test anything, he can borrow me a C2 ?

The psx emulator used in the latest build of Lakka-Libreelec ( _C2.arm/) is running PSX games at full speed. Would you like to put the same version of the emulator in the batocera?
The lakka Nintendo 64 emulator is fine too.

Dreamcast is the best consoles released by Sega back in 1998. Now there are a lot of best dreamcast emulator in the market which we can use on Windows 10. Like DEmul, NullDC/Reicast, Redream, and Lxdream. You can read the features of these dreamcast emulators and then select which one is looking best among them. We also need to keep in mind budget. -sega-dreamcast-emulators-to-use-on-windows-10/

Hello!
Sorry for bumping this old thread, but i was wondering if you did add to your to-do list putting the same emulator version from Lakka for the PSX and N64 into Batocera...
PSX is really a great console like n64, and it's too bad that these two doesn't work perfectly on C2 Batocera...
Thanks for the answer!

For many, programs such as the best Dreamcast emulators in this list are a means of reliving their favourite games of old. For others, they provide the perfect excuse to play SoulCalibur at work instead of filing costs in a spreadsheet.

It might not have quite the vast operating system compatibility as the second entry on our list, but it has a website that is crammed full of information, progress, reports, review videos, and much much more.

Flycast is actually an offshoot of the 4th Dreamcast emulator on our list, Reicast. Two Reicast cores were merged together to create one program which we now know as Flycast Libretro. This is the version that allows gamers to play games on their smartphones on the move!

Emulation requires different amounts of processing power to successfully replicate older consoles. Not only that, but your Chromebook or MacBook operates completely different to a Sega Master System or Dreamcast.

You can quickly get lost in a world of anger-inducing lag and find yourself cursing the best Dreamcast Emulators for opening up old Dreamcast-related emotional scars that you thought you had overcome.

Dreamcast, released in 1998, was the last home console of Sega. It made big difference to the gaming field at that time. However, it has a rather short lifespan. And this game console becomes a kind of nostalgia.

DEmul is greatly welcomed by users, which is considered as one of the best Dreamcast emulators. This Dreamcast emulator is compatible with almost all Dreamcast ROM. It can offer you the best gaming experience with its plug-in system for video and audio outputs.

Moreover, it is supported by a virtual memory card that reduces you the game progress time. More importantly, this emulator supports nearly all Sega games without any big jugs or lags. It can run well on Windows 7 and above systems.

Though Reicast is known as the best Dreamcast emulator for Android, it is available for Windows as well. What make Reicast stands out from other Dreamcast emulators is its strong reliability and stability. The regular updates feature gives Windows users an excellent experience.

DreamSpec is a spectrum-based Dreamcast emulator developed by a group of BigBoy developers. It boasts multiple distant features such as full sound, skinnable GUI, full speed, NTSC, as well as screen brightness.

Not only does it emulate games of Dreamcast console, but also emulate these of Naomi console. NullDC is built for Windows OS and has been running since 2006. It has a wonderful user interface and offers you cutting-edge graphics quality for the Dreamcast games.

Compared with other Dreamcast emulators, Redream is relatively new. It can provide you with retro emulation with advanced features that other emulators cannot offer. This emulator can support multiple systems including MacOS, Windows, Linux, and Android.

With this Dreamcast emulator, you can make your Dreamcast games reach up to 1080p or 4k quality. It is compatible with plenty of games from Dreamcast library. You should fulfill the following requirements in order to run it.

DosBox is one of the most popular Ms Dos emulators for many systems. Theemulator (current v.0.74) can run a fair share of many games on modern systems. However, the Dreamcast port is far from optimized. Most, if not all games and applications will run very slow. In the video below I play AlleyCat from 1984, and as can be seen it runs slow and the sound is stuttering. To use DosBoxDC, add a directory to your DosBox folder, and edit the dosbox.conf file to point to that directory. To autostart a game, edit the information under [autoexec]:

If I find games that run relatively good, I might create a CDI-file with these games together with a simple @echo menu. I will also try to find more info about how to optimize the dosbox.conf file for the Dreamcast.

When testing this Dos emulator I used a premade CDI with some included games and applications. These also run very slow. In the video below I run Windows 3.0 on the Dreamcast (via the Demul emulator with keyboard and mouse support enabled). Very little information can be found about this emulator online, so I will keep looking into further possibilties. However, it is in a very early stage and is unlikely to be developed further.

ScummVM is by far the best option for emulating MS Dos games on your Dreamcast. The latest release is 2.0 (from 2017!) and it runs plenty of games perfectly fine. You can create and burn a CDI or SDISO for use with Dreamshell / SD-card by using the files from ScummVMs website. Add the games you like and make sure you have the corresponding PLG-files on your disc. I ran into trouble when adding to many games (distorted menus, slow loading) to a single ISO. However, if you use an SD-card you can create several ISO-s and choose which one to load depending on what game you are in the mood for today. In the video below, I run Cruise for a Corpse. As can be seen, it runs very smooth!

Flycast is an emulator for Sega Dreamcast as well as Naomi and Atomiswave, derived from the legendary Reicast (another Dreamcast emulator), which sadly ceased to be active in 2020. This fork, however, is updated pretty regularly to improve its compatibility with the extensive SEGA console catalog as well as the emulator's own features and stability.

This app's compatibility list is incredibly long and covers practically all SEGA Dreamcast and Naomi games. Supported formats include: CHD, CDI, GDI, and CUE, as well as compressed files in ZIP, 7Z, and DAT. It's important to keep in mind that the emulator doesn't support certain titles, including those from SEGA NAOMI 2, Hikaru, and SEGA System SP boards.

As far as the controversial BIOS issue is concerned, they're optional when it comes to playing SEGA Dreamcast games. By default, most of the games work without a problem. You will need BIOS if you want to play Naomi or Atomiswave games, however. Ideally, you create your own backup of any BIOS file you want to update, but if you don't know how, it's possible to find BIOS files and tutorials online.

Flycast is an excellent Dreamcast emulator that lets you play the vast majority of the catalog for what is often regarded as the best console in history, despite ending prematurely, without the recognition it deserved. Now, thanks to this emulator, you can continue playing games on this console whenever and wherever you want.

Uptodown is a multi-platform app store specialized in Android. Our goal is to provide free and open access to a large catalog of apps without restrictions, while providing a legal distribution platform accessible from any browser, and also through its official native app.
