ClockworkCastellans are a new type of collectible introduced in the Resident Evil 4 Remake and you can find one of them in each of the remake's 16 chapters. Similar to the bobblehead toys featured in previous remakes in the series, Clockwork Castellans are destructible Salazar Wind-Up Dolls that make a squeaky mechanical sound when you're near them. Destroying all 16 Clockwork Castellans will complete the Revolution Wind-Up Achievement or Trophy and unlock the Primal Knife.
While you'll likely encounter a few Clockwork Castellans organically, others are well-hidden and rather tricky to find. In this Resident Evil 4 Remake guide, we'll detail the location of all 16 Clockwork Castellans and we'll provide some tips that can help you hunt down these elusive Wind-Up Dolls.
Clockwork Castellans can be missed if you progress too far past the chapters in which they're found. With this in mind, it's highly recommended that you destroy the Wind-Up Dolls during your first visit to their respective locations.
As mentioned above, there are 16 Clockwork Castellans scattered throughout the Resident Evil 4 Remake and they make a squeaky mechanical noise when you're near them. However, this sound can often be obstructed by enemies, gunfire, or dialogue. The squeaky mechanical noise can also be easily confused with the sound of hanging treasure or swinging light fixtures.
Because of this, it's recommended that you access the Language Settings in the Options menu to turn on Subtitles and Closed Caption Subtitles. When searching for Clockwork Castellans with Closed Caption Subtitles turned on, you'll receive the on-screen notification pictured above whenever you're near a Wind-Up Doll. Closed Captions can also prove invaluable during combat as they'll alert you to enemy sounds you may have missed.
Lastly, before we detail the locations of the Clockwork Castellans it's important to note that each of these Wind-Up Dolls only needs to be found once. This means that if you find a Clockwork Castellan in one save file, it does not need to be found in any other save file.
The first Clockwork Castellan is located inside the first stone house that you'll encounter when you reach the Lakeside Settlement. After taking out the Ganados lurking in the area, enter the ruined house through the window and head to the right.
The second Clockwork Castellan can be found in a small shack on the path toward the Village Chief's Manor. After getting past the door with the Hexagonal Emblem, continue heading toward your objective and walk up the stairs. After walking up the stairs, look toward your left and you'll spot the small structure pictured above.
Inside, you'll find a note that provides details on Clockwork Castellans and the second Wind-Up Doll will be sitting atop a hay bale in the corner of the room. Remember that these collectibles can be destroyed with your Combat Knife so save your ammunition and stab it instead.
The third Clockwork Castellan is hidden in the Merchant's dock-side compound which you'll find after traveling through the Quarry. This area is also home to the first Shooting Gallery you'll encounter.
To find the fourth Clockwork Castellan, you'll need to sail back to the Lakeside Settlement and open the Insignia Door found on the northern end of the Lakeside Settlement. Though you likely discovered this door all the way back in Chapter 1, you were unable to open it without the Insignia Key acquired from the Village Chief's Manor at the end of Chapter 2.
Next, head toward the northern fence and look for the Wind-Up Doll on the ground. This Clockwork Castellan can be difficult to spot in the rain, so if needed, refer to the map above to pinpoint its location.
The fifth Clockwork Castellan is located in the attic of the Village Chief's Manor. During your previous visit to the Manor, you may have discovered a collapsible ladder that leads to the attic, however, the attic remained inaccessible because you need Ashley's help to reach it.
If you didn't discover the collapsible ladder in Chapter 2, head upstairs to the bedroom and move the picture frame on the wall to find a lever. Pull the lever and the collapsible ladder will be revealed. Now boost Ashley into the attic and climb upward after she lowers the ladder.
After narrowly escaping with Luis and Ashley at the end of Chapter 5, you'll fight your way through a heavily-guarded valley as you try to escape the village. Once all the enemies have been cleared, push through the gate to continue heading toward the Checkpoint area and you'll spot a large bonfire to your right.
After defeating the Garrador (aka the blind enemy with giant claws) in the castle's dungeon, use the Dungeon Key to unlock the door by Ashley and climb up the ladder that follows. You'll find yourself in a storage area that leads to the Treasury.
The eighth Clockwork Castellan is located at the top of one of the towers in the Castle Battlements that you'll need to traverse while the massive, ogre-like enemy throws boulders at you. Immediately after the brief cutscene that reveals the monster, head to the right side of the tower and drop down. Continue to the right and climb up the ladder across the way while being careful to avoid incoming boulders.
Once you reach the top of the ladder, you'll notice some crates to your right. To find this Wind-Up Doll you'll want to wrap around the area to reach the other side of these crates. The Clockwork Castellan will be waiting for you on some stacked sandbags.
At the beginning of Chapter 9, you'll find yourself in a room with a Typewriter and the ninth Clockwork Castellan is located underneath the staircase that you'll walk down to enter the Courtyard. To reach the collectible, make your way through the maze while heading toward the northwestern reaches of the area. For more precise directions, refer to the list below that begins when standing directly in front of and facing the staircase toward the center of the area:
After climbing your way out of the Depths, you'll work your way through a long narrow hallway that leads under the Ballroom. Soon you'll walk through a door and spot a familiar sight, the purple flames that signal that you've found one of the Merchant's shops.
The eleventh Clockwork Castellan can be found in the Stopover area that you'll enter after your rollercoaster-like minecart experience. Defeat the enemies guarding the ruined structure and look above the central door to find this Wind-Up Doll.
The twelfth Clockwork Castellan is found on the ground floor of the Clock Tower. After entering the Clock Tower, defeat any enemies in your way while heading toward the northwestern end of the area. The Clockwork Castellan will be on some boxes under the staircase.
Immediately after defeating your first RPG-wielding enemy, you'll push through some doors and walk down an empty cave path to reach an area housing freight containers and several enemies. Defeat these well-armed foes and approach the nearby Treasure. Just to the right of the Elegant Crown Treasure, you'll notice heavy machinery including a green forklift. The thirteenth Clockwork Castellan will be on the floor and between the heavy machinery.
Immediately after the cutscene in which Saddler kidnaps Ashley, push through the doors to chase after them, then head down the path on your right to reach an area overlooking the Campsite. Take out the enemy here, then enter the small control room to your right. The fourteenth Clockwork Castellan will be sitting on top of the lockers in this control room.
The fifteenth Clockwork Castellan can be found after the cutscene in which the helicopter pilot, Mike, meets his untimely demise. After the cutscene, make your way toward the objective and head into the nearby building. Defeat the Regenerador inside and enter the small room to the right of the wheel mechanism.
The final Clockwork Castellan can be found during the countdown sequence that begins after you've vanquished Saddler. Sprint through the opening area of the Underground Passage and jump across the falling bridge with Ashley. As you approach the door, an enemy will leap onto you before falling to the ground.

Discover where Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange (1971) was filmed in the UK, around London, including Thamesmead, Wandsworth Chelsea and Brunel University; as well as Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
Set vaguely in the north of England, judging by the accents, A Clockwork Orange was made almost entirely on location around London and the Home Counties (the southeastern counties surrounding the capital), with notoriously travel-phobic director Stanley Kubrick choosing locations from architectural guides.
The grim housing estate of Alex (Malcolm McDowell) is part of the unspeakable concrete disaster that is Thamesmead South, a vast, dismal, windswept collection of tower blocks connected by intimidating walkways. The exterior of his glum home was the Tavy Bridge Centre on the A2041 at Yarnton Way, which has recently been demolished.
