I just installed Rhino 7 and created a simple box. When I try to view this in Rendered view, it turns black. I was trying to decide whether or not I need to upgrade, but this is a bit concerning after using it for 30 seconds. Hope somebody can help.
I am dealing with an internmitent issue where randoms users, across random servers logon and post windows logon screen (processing/apply policies etc) they are presented with a black screen varying from 0-3 minutes.
There is no correlation in users and black screen length, the same user can have it for as little as 15 seconds upon logon and then next logon it can last up to 3 minutes. When it does not happens the logon process completes within 15 seconds. On average it happens once per 3x logons.
Has anyone run into an issue lately with Server 2016 giving a black screen when you login via the console or over Citrix? We started noticing this after we applied CU 04-2018 and at the same time we upgraded from 7.15 LTSR CU1 to CU2. We reverted back to CU1 and it still does it so I'm thinking it is something in the 04-2018 cumulative update from Microsoft.
When this problem was happening I stopped all Citrix services and tried again but I was still presented with the black screen. I also have a few other single VDA's (not master images) running 7.15 CU2 that don't seem to have this issue (all server 2016). I'm going to attempt to revert my master image and just update 7.15 CU2 instead of the Windows patches and see if that works.
I've seen several questions about this, but never an answer. On several streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Paramount, etc, I was getting a black screen with no video and could only hear the audio. I use Chrome, but checked Safari and was also getting the issue. I followed all of the troubleshooting steps on Netflix's website; still nothing. However, I found a fix so I wanted to share:
I have been struggling with this forever and couldn't figure out why it was so intermittent. I finally figured out why on my system it was happening. I use multiple screens and will stream while I work. While working I sometimes need to create a video of my screen so I'll pause the streaming, and open up Camtasia to record my screen. If any screen recording software is open all the streaming services will only show black screen with audio. Make sure you have any software that records your screen is closed out. For me that is Snagit, Camtasia, Vidyard, ect.
oh man, but this doesn't help much if you don't use chrome at all and you are still getting the black screen. this is such a puzzle and I am really really surprised no one has found causes and fixes for this yet. like its happening at least twice a month for me now on any streaming that isn't Netflix and I ONLY use safari.(but I still checked the others and they all have same prob too) I have done so much troubleshooting, restarting, turning off any ad blockers and pop up blockers, clearing cache (pain the the rear too that one), and logging in and out of everything all the way to restarting the internet and computer for a full restart cycle. I just wanted to watch some wheel of time on my day off. surely, someone out there knows why this is happening? (MacBook Pro with M1 and Ventura)
Same issue. Was able to make the changes in Chrome and am able to have both sound and video when screen mirroring to TV. Still black screen when trying to screen mirror movie purchased from Apple TV from Mac to TV. Works perfectly when using iPad. Odd.
In Windows 3.x the black screen of death is the behavior that occurred when a DOS-based application failed to execute properly. It was often known to occur in connection with attempting certain operations while networking drivers were resident in memory. (Commonly, but not exclusively, it was seen while the Novell NetWare client for DOS, NETX, was loaded.).
The issue was fixed in most instances by adding an additional section in the SYSTEM.INI of affected clients with the text TimerCriticalSection = 10000. The following files were also updated, vtdapi.386re.386 and vipx.38id-1991 by Ed Brown, a technician with the Coca-Cola Company's IT department in Atlanta, GA. He reports that the company was rolling out Windows 3.0 within the Global Marketing group and when the users would attempt to run WordPerfect, they would receive a black screen.[citation needed] This is also just a black screen.
For instance, the failure is sometimes caused by a missing file.[1] This also occurs when the user enables file compression on all the files and the operating system compresses. Rarely an experienced user must reinstall Windows. In the case of a missing file, the boot screen will most likely inform the user the name of the missing file. In the case of operating system compression, the computer will not be able to boot, even into safe mode.[2][3] However, booting from another device and uncompressing the files will usually solve this particular case of problem.
In late 2009, several new reports of the Black Screen of Death in Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 emerged. At first, several claims pointed at Windows Update. This was later recanted by Prevx as an erroneous report.[4][5] Microsoft reported that no security update was causing the issue, and may be tied to malware.[6][7] In other cases, the black screen was replaced with a blue screen of death. A Black Screen of Death may also be caused by certain components of the computer overheating, in place of the traditional blue screen, that appeared to indicate a Stop error. This black screen was simplified compared to the previous blue screen, omitting instructions that the user is recommended to take.[citation needed]
Windows 10 also displays a black screen of death due to an unfinished update in addition to the aforementioned causes above; in the former case, the system restarts after the update and the user is presented with the login screen, however after logging in the user is stuck with another black screen instead. Performing a hard-shutdown of the computer and cold-booting it is the only way for the user to resolve this problem.[8]
In some versions of macOS (such as OS X Lion), a hardware or software issue could cause the system to display a black screen of death instead of a kernel panic. This is usually pointed to a graphics card failure or a sleep/wake issue.[9]
My main PC (5800X, 6800XT, X570S Pro AX) had a lot of issues when waking from sleep before I installed the proper X570 chipset drivers from AMD's website. That fixed the crashing issue but I kept having the black screen problem.
Hello, the specifications of my pc are:
Rx 6600 R5 5600g
16GB RAM
MSI B550 gaming plus
Pixio PX248 Prime Monitor
I was able to resolve the issue without having to reboot. What I did was change the monitor frequency from the Windows display settings from 144hz to 120hz, then back to 144hz and the black screen no longer appears.
I have now developed this same problem. The program begins to launch and it goes to a black screen. I can hear the Zwift music but no video appears. I cannot reach Zwift support. Did anyone solve this problem?
I simulated this issue in the attached screenshot - the host on the left is sharing the entire screen, the right is a Windows VM with Chrome 80 that can only see a black screen. Note: the meeting date in the screenshot is the date the test meeting was originally scheduled, the screenshot is actually from 3/26.
I supervise training on Zoom.
One of the personn in a session have this issue right now : she is seeing a black screen instead of a share screen with green contour.
She is having a session on Chrome, with a Windows PC; this is all I know.
I've now got a a subscription preview, but on loading the App today when I went to record the screen where the map shows was black, with no route appearing on it. I usually use it with mobile data off (limited data, and quite frankly no desire for it to be on permanently) and it shows a blurry map which is perfectly fine for my purposes (to show it's picked up where I am and relate it to my route so far). Turning mobile data on did result in the map appearing (sharply as it would have done beforehand). I don't use Strava for navigation.
Can anyone help with the issue with the black screen please? And if it is linked to the subscription, how do I remove that immediately, as if it is the cause of the problem its presence gives me more issues than benefits.
After logging in with my password at the initial sign-in before we reach the desktop screen, there is around a 5 minute black screen with only a mouse cursor showing. After 5 minutes the desktop shows up as usual. Restarting with Safe Mode doesn't have the black screen issue.
With the TeamViewer Black Screen feature, you can hide the remote screen in connections to a Windows, Mac or Linux computer into a full-screen security image. To enable this feature, please follow our How-to guide below.
You can turn the remote screen black in connections from any desktop platform OS (Windows, macOS and Linux) to any Windows device running Windows 7, 8 and 10, any Linux and macOS device (only for TeamViewer version 15.8 and higher).
?Note: Every time you will connect to this specific computer, the TeamViewer black screen will be automatically enabled and remote input will be deactivated. This last procedure also works analogically when connecting to a contact.
