Maps vary from 200 to over 1000 km in scale divided in hexes (20 km in size). Armies consist of a historical mix of 600+ unit types divided into 22 different unit classes including infantry, tanks, artillery, fighters, bombers, submarines, battleships and more.
It is a turn-based game, played on a hexagonal map. Players could test their skills fighting famous WW2 battles against the computer or another player. In 1995, the game Panzer General won the award for Best Military or Strategy Computer Game of 1995. It quickly gained a large group of strategy fans, one of which is the creator of the Klotzen game, a strategy game enthusiast.
Those 600 unit types are divided into 22 unit classes -- including infantry, tanks, fighter planes, bombers, submarines, battleships, and more -- which can all be used in dynamic military campaigns, allowing you to change the course of history.
You can choose to fight in a campaign mode where you use one specific nation to move through each scenario, or a standalone mode to pick from either Axis or Allied forces. You can then take on battles like the invasion of Normandy, or a historically based assault on locations like London or Moscow
Panzer Battles is a hex board game style WWII war game. The game is based on the same engine originally used in Battlefront. The included Scenario package has forces and battles involving Soviet, German, British, American forces.You command corps of units in an effort to achieve the objectives laid out in the scenario briefing which follow actual battles during the war. With several scenarios included, and an excellent scenario editor it allows for extended gameplay.
