First, the dotnet core target framework version needs to match the one of the docker image. 3rdman/dotnet-spark:0.5.0-linux-dev is using version 2.1 and therefore the TargetFramework element in HelloSpark.csproj needs to be set to netcoreapp2.1.
This section is meant for developers new to sparklyr. You will need a running Spark environment to connect to. sparklyr can install Spark in your computer. The installed Spark environment is meant for learning and prototyping purposes. The installation will work on all the major Operating Systems that R works on, including Linux, MacOS, and Windows.
You can use spark_connect() to connect to Spark clusters. The arguments passed to this functions depend on the type of Spark cluster you are connecting to. There are several different types of Spark clusters, such as YARN, Stand Alone and Kubernetes.
1) Obtain a USB Flash drive that has at least 256 MB of available capacity.
2) Download the SPARK Science Learning System firmware update to your computer hard drive.
3) Copy the 'spark.upd' file to the top level of the file structure of the USB Flash drive.
4) Connect the SPARK Science Learning System to an external power adapter.
5) Turn off the SPARK Science Learning System by holding down the power button for several seconds.
6) Connect the USB Flash drive to the SPARK Science Learning System.
7) Restart the SPARK Science Learning System.
8) When prompted to "remove flash drive", remove the USB Flash drive. The SPARK Science Learning System will automatically restart.
