Hello, This is not a technical question related to the GIMME package, but I figured this group may still have some great insight :)

We are currently addressing reviewer comments for a paper, and there were concerns raised about the Likert-type response scale we used for our items and its appropriateness for GIMME. We developed our own measure with response options on a 5-point Likert-type scale. From my understanding, in some cases, Likert scales with 5 categories can be treated as continuous (e.g., Rhemtulla et al., 2012), although scales with 7 or more response options might be more ideal. Since our data is already collected, there's little that can be done for this current study. However, we plan to continue using this measure in future research and would like to know whether modifying the response scale to better approximate a continuous measurement scale would be beneficial for the appropriate use of GIMME. Any expertise on the matter would be much appreciated.
