After successfully running the gimme analysis, I found that my result had more than two sets of subgroups. But the majority of published articles use two subgroups. How to limit the number of subgroups to two groups?
Thank you!

There is no way to limit it. We use the igraph package for community detection to arrive at subgroups. The Walktrap approach is used to find groups in a data-driven fashion. Walktrap has been found to be one of the most reliable methods for the type of data we are inputing. So, I would trust that you have >2 groups.

If you have predefined groups, you can specify them using confirmatory subgrouping.  https://tarheels.live/gimme/tutorials/confirmatory-subgroup-gimme/
