As one of the best PC fighting games of all time, let's take a look at what the Tekken 7 Season Pass has to offer. It's a lot! With no less than four Season Pass releases and an impressive fourteen additional playable characters and character customization items, Tekken 7 has quite the post-launch roster of expansions to consider. Which do you get, then?

This comprehensive overview of Tekken 7 Season Pass content is going to help you make an informed choice. Down below, we've prepared in-depth content lists and explanations for each Season pass. That way, once you're done with this article, you'll know precisely which expansion pass you want and need to best expand upon the awesome base game.

Back in the day, before Tekken 7 found its pace properly, and before it received the many upgrades and improvements it now has, it got its first major content drop - Season Pass 1. For better or for worse, it includes precisely two additional playable characters, a new game mode, the Tekken Bowl, on top of that. The metallic sheen skins are a curiosity at best, and the focus falls squarely on the two guest stars of the show.

First of the two additional playable characters is Geese Howard. The Geese Howard, yeah - of Fatal Fury fame. This alone will, we reckon, make this Season Pass a serious consideration for fans of FF. The other of the 2 additional playable characters is Noctis of Final Fantasy XV in his famously overpowered state, though he's been nerfed since the inclusion.

As far as the new game mode goes, the additional Ultimate Tekken Bowl mode is a decent side-adventure for players to pursue. It goes without saying that this new game mode won't come anywhere close to the depth of actual fighting, of course, but it's good fun overall. Indeed, the new game mode is somewhat reminiscent of the incredibly popular Yakuza mini-games, and we reckon the game mode deserves a second thought, to be sure.

It's obvious right off the bat that Season Pass 2 is far meatier than its predecessor was. At least, far as the character roster is concerned. While it was a bit of a bummer not to get anything wacky like a new game mode including bowling this time around, Bandai Namco made up for that by including a whopping six characters in the Pass. Not half bad, right?

Now, an argument could be made that many of these are classic Tekken characters that should've been included in the base game. We disagree with that, however, given that the game came pre-loaded with heaps of playable characters anyway. This seems to have been the best of both worlds, really. Long-time fans of, say, Armor King and Anna could now finally use their favorites in combat. Bandai Namco, on the other hand, got more time to develop them post-launch with additional character customization items.

Negan, though, is a special case. This Walking Dead combatant was almost unreasonably overpowered for a long time, making him an easy choice in competitive modes. He seems to have been reeled in since, thankfully, though don't be weirded out if you get hate for playing with him online.

Season Pass 3 is special in a couple of ways. Firstly, it includes three all-new additional playable characters from a variety of backgrounds, featuring a number of unique combat styles and various character customization items. There's the token returnee, too - Ganryu. All four of these fare fairly well in combat, though it does seem like Leroy Smith is dominating the competitive leaderboards, to say the least.

The bonus customization options are neat, to be sure. The same could be said about the Cave of Enlightenment stage, which is otherwise a standalone purchase. Note that previous character DLCs and Season Pass releases also included a number of stages. It's just that, most of the time, they were tied up with specific characters as a neat bonus. Not the case with Cave, and it's a cool enough stage, to be sure.

Frame Data Display, however, is perhaps the single most controversial release in the history of Tekken 7. This granular showcase of everything that's going on in the background of Tekken 7's flashy combat is basically a must-have for competitive fighters. It tells you about frame advantages, attack distancing, avatar status, and a load of other important information.

We'll refer to Polygon's incredibly in-depth overview and explanation of why Frame Data Display is crucial. The bottom line is remarkably simple, though: this feature is exceedingly important for players who are serious about Tekken 7. It provides you with insight into why you may have had your butt beaten, and understanding this data leads to vastly increased match prowess. All in all, you probably need this DLC if you're looking to get competitive in Tekken.

The ongoing Season Pass - fourth, since we're keeping track of things - has so far received two additional playable characters and two combat stages, as well as a slew of PAC-MAN-themed cosmetics. We'll leave those for arcade gaming aficionados and focus on stages and characters, however.

The two additional playable characters, Kunimitsu and Lidia have, so far, received a slew of support from fans of the game. One of the two additional playable characters is an old fan favorite, while the other represents Poland in a way that meshes with the community. It's an interesting thing to witness, we'll leave it at that. Much as was the case with the Cave of Enlightenment, you're getting two full stages with this Season Pass, both of which are otherwise available as standalone purchases. They won't change things considerably, but it's always good to get a new stage to fight on, we feel.

As of March 2021, it seems that the content included with SP4 is what's available right now. Bandai Namco is probably setting up for Season Pass 5 already, though it's anyone's guess when that might be coming along. Or what it might contain, for that matter.

We'd be hardly surprised if fresh character releases started winding down at this point, since Tekken 7 now has a staggering 47 (!) playable characters for devs to balance. There's a lot of stuff to play around with, but we won't be particularly surprised if we get another SP2-tier release, either. Time will tell!

As of writing this article (late March of 2021), Bandai Namco's only reached Season Pass 4 with Tekken, though we're reasonably sure that there are heaps more to come in the next couple of months and years. Now that you know precisely what's included with which Season Pass, you can get started with upgrading your base copy of the game.

One last thing worth keeping in mind is that none of the season pass releases include Eliza. If you're interested in fighting with this character, you'll need to splurge on her DLC separately, as she was included as a pre-order bonus and otherwise left aside.

Ahead of Tekken 8's launch, Bandai Namco revealed that Eddy Gordo was going to be joining the roster as part of the first season pass. Now, a dataminer has some ideas as to what else is in store for Season 1.

A trusted leaker known as shootmans shared some information he found on Twitter. The same leaker is known for debunking and confirming earlier leaks during Tekken 8's Closed Network Test, which gives the following rumors a bit more plausibility.

The first character will possibly be Craig Marduk from Tekken 4. This is the theory after shootmans saw Australia mentioned within Tekken 8's data. The Australian was an undefeated Vale Tudo champion before he became involved in a scandal that led to murder.

The second possible character is Fakumram from Tekken 7. According to shootmans, there's data in Tekken's files that reference a Muay Thai fighter from Thailand, which coincides with Fakumram's backstory.

The other rumored character that shootman believes will be in the Season 1 DLC is Lidia, also from Tekken 7. She is the only character from Poland so that's how he made that connection based on the data he uncovered.

Based on all of the uncovered data, shootman speculated that rumored returning fighter Anna Williams won't be part of Season 1. The assassin has been rumored to be joining Tekken 8's roster but it seems that won't be happening until a later season. She will most likely be launched along with a fighter leakers are calling AK.

At EVO 2018, Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada took to the stage after a fantastic Tekken EVO 2018 finals and announced that a second season pass for Tekken 7. People were expecting a Season 2 given the success of Tekken 7 and the first season pass.

Julia and Negan - yes, Negan from The Walking Dead - complete season two's DLC characters. They don't have a release date yet, but we do have Negan gameplay, finally, below. This trailer's cool because it recreates a famous - perhaps the most famous - Negan scene from the show.

Sorry Kazuma Kiryu or Tifa Lockhart fans, come back next season. Talking with Shacknews/GamerHubTV, Tekken 7's producer Michael Murray explained that the remaining two characters (I don't know why they were talking like there was only one left) in Season Pass 3 are not guest characters. As Murray says, the end slate used in the Season 3 roadmap image doesn't have a specific slot with a custom effect which normally indicates the presence of a unique guest fighter. With that said, the Wing Chun fighter Leroy Smith is on his way and we get a small back-and-forth on what to expect from his fighting style. To hear more about the Season 3 DLC from Murray, check out the video interview over on the GamerHubTV YouTube page.
