The list I see there is a bunch of people that I very well might know.
Many of them are people I know *of* - friends or other halves of
internet buddies I've known, stalked or followed on other sites for
years. Many are people whose personal sites or blogs are ones that
I've followed for a long time, and subbed to their RSSes.
As tempting as it is to click "Share trips" with all these suggested
people, the fact is that I've not actually met them in person, on the
whole. One or two I met, years ago, and only briefly. But the majority
are just known names (and, thanks to Flickr, faces).
Two conclusions:
- these days, I try to limit my contacts on any one social network to
people I've either met in real life, or made a decent connection with
over the intertubes
- not that you needed any reminding of this, but the Dopplr team are
*very clever*. And I'm not just saying that cos I've done some work
with them recently; I'm saying it cos it's true
