I updated two Macs on Monday with 15.1, one an older MacBook Pro running an Intel core, Ventura 13.2.1 and an M1 MacBook Air, also running Ventura 13.2.1 and had no issue updating either of them, from inside the Sonos controller. No need to delete anything.
Thank you for the detailed instructions. This is on a mac and I was able to locate and delete the file. I restarted the computer and opened spotify, but I still cannot see the sonos speakers. I have another macbook that sees them with no problem and my phone also sees them. On this macbook, I can see the speakers from the volume control, but not in spotify. I can see my amazon echo and a stereo receiver with spotify connect.
What helped for me --for those struggling with this now-- was trying to cast the audio via airplay instead. It showed the speakers here just fine, just not on the Spotify app itself.
When I connected to the speakers via my phone, the Mac app did show the music playing on the sonos speaker, but didn't recognise it as a speaker, just a generic device.
Thanks.
That sounds wonderfull excempt that in my case I have never been able to see the Sonos device on that output list. I see all other airplay devices, apple tv and so on. But never the sonos. Have gone through resseting, etc. and nothing. It is a Sonos one2 gen.
When I returned to the problem the following day, I didn't have any new ideas, but I tried some things to gather more information. One of these led to the breakthrough. Following the "it's a cache" hypothesis I tried to install the Sonos controller software on a fresh device, this time an old laptop. It failed to see the speakers, thus pouring cold water on the shaky cache idea. But while I was doing this I looked at the network connection and saw the laptop had an IP address of 10.0.0.8. This was significant, IP addresses on my home network are given by my router that runs DHCP, which hands out IP addresses in the 192.168.1 range. I did a bit of pinging and found this laptop could ping my server and my speakers, but my server couldn't ping the laptop.
