Whenruning Windows 7 in a native bootcamp partition you may have experienced issues when trying to pair android devices, audio sinks, headsets, etc. For earlier Mac models (2010 and earlier) the workaround consisted in using the broadcom drivers released by Acer or HP. However, the later 2011 models including MBA mid 2011, Macbook Pro and iMac will not allow you to install those drivers. Neither will Broadcom oficial updater recognize your bluetooth built in device.
The good news: after several weeks googling and installing/uninstalling pretty much every available driver on the internet I managed to have all my bluetooth devices wroking on Windows 7 x64 (bootcamp partition) on my MBA MID 2011.
3.- Thank again to Acer (and not to Apple) we can get also a fully functional profile in a hardware we have paid a lot of money for. BUT WARNING! here you SHOULD NOT install the drivers!. Install only the utility suit instead. Pay carefull attention or you will get a blue screen and you will need to uninstall the drivers in safe mode or even have to do a clean Windows install. Uninstall all your paired BT devices (except for Magic Mouse and or keyboard you can leave them paired)
Options 1 and 2 (Bluesoleil and Toshiba Stack) are good options however they are paid-off softwares but what could be more important for many useres is that they completely override the Microsoft bluetooth stack and therefore Apple devices (like magic mouse) will loose some functionality I wasn't able to get the touch scrolling or the gestures working with those stacks. The 3th option however will not completeley override the Microsoft stack (used by Apple's drivers) and therefore Apple Magic mouse will work perfectly. The Atheros bluetooth suit will only add the requiered protocols and make them interact with the Microsoft stack. The disadvantage of the latest is that the audio quality is not even close as the one you are gonna get with the Toshiba stack and not say about configurability...
This worked on my Mackbook air mid - 2011Windows 7 x64. Be aware that you will loose the "magic scrolling" in case you are using a bluetooth magic mouse. Otherwise all bluetooth devices have been working as a chram with the Toshiba stack.
Thanks so much for posting the instructions - I'm excited to have them work - but I got stuck on one step - from the linkopia set: When I try to point Win7 64-bit to the INF file, it tells me it "Doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is compatible with Windows for x64-based systems." I definitely downloaded the BT-stack-64-bit-toshiba file...
Make sure that you are using the Id of your computer. To get you Id go to control panel>hardware>device manager. Go to the bluetooth symbol and search for Apple built in Bluetooth device> right click > details > Hardware ID (more detailed info here: -to-find-unknown-device-drivers-by-their-vendor- device-id/)
Make sure that you are typing the new Id properly. In addition if you edit the .inf file direct on C:\program files\ wont save properly. It is better if you move the tosrfusb.inf file to the desktop, edit it and then move it back to the original path.
It's not the 64 bit part - the relevant part of the message is that it doesn't think this is a driver for the Apple Broadcom built-in bluetooth. if I pick a different device and try to get a driver from that INF file, I am able to see the line I added to the file as one of the choices.
Bootcamp hasn't been updated yet but I don't think Apple will upgrade the Bluetooth functionality seeing their track record. Can you check if the driver works? I'm a little noob in such things, so I was hoping for some feedback before I try it out
I'm aware of normal tethering scenarios in which the user can share the Mobile Data connection with other phones/pcs via wifi-hotspot, bluetooth tethering or USB tethering and my phone is capable of all of them.
This is a good question which myself couldn't get a satisfactory solution. This solution posted here seemed promising although I found out the bluetooth stack supports fewer bluetooth adapters and also some link was taken down.
However it doesn't seem to keep the connection long and I have trouble sending any data over the Bluetooth Serial Link before it decides to disconnect. If I do get to send data over it once then I turn the Bluetooth module on and off it doesn't seem to want to connect again without removing it then discovering and adding again.
I started using 'toshiba bluetooth stack' a program made by toshiba that helps with connecting Bluetooth devices to your computer. This finally allows me to connect my Bluetooth module to my computer and works well.
I plodded through the XP control panel and got my phone to pair with desktop OK, but this meant that Softronic won't look at it. I imagine all your problems are at the PC end, essentially that the PC has to do the pairing. You can test Arduino with a phone. Fortunately my laptops are Dell and come with the Toshiba stack included.
The Bluetooth module if its the HC-50 or the HC-60 act as serial devices and the paring or connecting with the computer has nothing to do with the connection to the Arduino as its all on the Bluetooth module side.
Its a known issue that the HC-50 has problems connecting with Windows and struggles to keep a connection. Once connected it acts as a serial port however before long the connection stops and you can't send data any more. If you want to reconnect with the Bluetooth module you have to remove and re-add.
Through researching this issue which other people were having I got told to use a Bluetooth suit called "Toshibas bluetooth stack" which allows me to easily connect it to my computer and allow it to act as a com port perfectly.
Switch between different bluetooth stacks in just several seconds or less, with two mouse clicks. No reboot required. Note, Bluetooth Stack Switcher does not contain any bluetooth drivers, all needed bluetooth stacks should be already installed and configured.
