NoteOnly broken windscreens are payable. Chipped or scratched windscreens are not claimable for windscreen claims. Windscreen excess will be waived if the windscreen is repaired instead of replaced.
The Motor Claim Forms are no longer in use. Please go to any authorised workshop to report an accident. With effect from 15 February 2021, all IDAC (Independent Damage Assessment Centre) will cease its accident reporting services for MSIG.
If you require towing services, please call our authorised workshops or 24-hour Roadside Assistance at
+65 6968 6223 for assistance. Our partners will arrange for a Malaysian counterpart to tow your vehicle to the Causeway where our authorised workshop will take over the towing of your vehicle.
Please make a police report and submit a copy of the report to any of our authorised workshops for accident reporting. With effect from 15 February 2021, all IDAC (Independent Damage Assessment Centre) will cease its accident reporting services for MSIG.
If your vehicle is damaged by a fallen tree, please take photographs of the fallen tree to capture any decay as well as the general position to determine the locality of the tree. Please submit these photographs to the authorised workshop when you make the accident report.
No, the comprehensive motor insurance policy provides cover for accident-related repairs only. If your tyres are damaged in an accident with other parts of the vehicle damaged, the vehicle repairs and tyre replacement will be covered.
Your NCD will be protected for the first claim arising out of the same accident made during the period of insurance. If you have more than one claim arising out of different accidents, your NCD for the subsequent claims will be affected.
I am with MSIG motor insurance. Had an accident recently. Wanted to bring my ride to Lye Design to repair it. However Mei informed me that they are not an authorised workshop. I informed her that my insurance allows me to go to any workshop but she said they still can't repair for me.
Does anyone knows why i can't go to certain workshops to settle the accident claims and yet mine is any workshops?
Oh. The replies i get from a small and big workshop is they are not authorised under MSIG.
That really made me shocked as i even told them mine is all workshops but they still said cannot.
The workshop now told me cannot make claims on my own insurance cause they had started work on my ride already? Does it work that way even thought i had went to MSIG reporting centre and made the report and they taken photos of my ride?

My new car comes with compulsory 1st year car insurance with AIG. This is my first time with AIG. There is issue with NCD calculation with them. I am not convinced what they said about my NCD (10% difference). How may i, on my own or ask 3rd party, to check/verify what is my NCD as of now?
But easiest way to check NCD on record is to try to get a quote from another company, talk to a CSO (customer service officer) and enquire casually about current NCD. You can also act blur and ask about NCD protector, then they will reply it only applies when NCD hits 50 percent, which gives you an opening to ask about your current NCD. But usually this is openly revealed, and they're all sharing the same database.
Just to add from my experience, even for 100% no fault claims, do consider the possibility that the claim may fail against the other party, eg. a bankrupt drunk driver, so it is safer and is the routine practice to claim against own insurance first, so make sure if your insurer has workshop restrictions, their workshop is acceptable to you. Then again, I think you can go to your own workshop provided the quote is the same or lower than the authorised workshops.
If claiming against another party, can go to AD workshop. I been there and did it. Only when claiming OD,you need to go to approved workshop. But then again,of you pay double the excess, you can still go to your preferred workshop. Which in your case, AD workshop.
That is crap IMHO...if I am claiming against 3rd party, it does not involve MSIG...under what authority do they have to control you to go where ? This applies even if the other party that you claim is MSIG...its his policy you are claiming against not yours...so you have a choice to go whichever workshop you want.
Time for car insurance renewal. Need some advice. Looking at policy quotes for "own workshop" or "insurer's workshop". My car is still relatively new and still covered by warranty. If I purchase a policy which does not allow own workshop, I need to go to insurance company's workshop, correct? Will this void my warranty? Is it more advisable to select a policy for "own workshop" (all repairs to be done at vehicle warranty workshop) in order to maintain vehicle's warranty? TIA.
MSIG's car insurance plans provide rare and useful coverage that can be a steal for the average safe driver. However, because premiums are priced the same for women and men, women will find their premiums to be less competitively priced compared to other insurers. Furthermore, new or young drivers will need to pay a premium to access MSIG's unique benefits.
MSIG's MotorMax car insurance plans are a great option for safe drivers who want extensive financial coverage against expensive mishaps. MSIG's car insurance plan has 2 tiers: MotorMax and MotorMax Plus. Each tier has increasing levels of coverage and pricing. MSIG MotorMax only provides Comprehensive plans online, so drivers of older cars who need Third Party, Fire and Theft (TPFT) or Third Party Only (TPO) plans will have to find an alternative insurer.
With effect from 1 April 2022, MotorMax Plus will be available for all electric vehicle models. Any previous blocking of Toyota vehicles will also be removed on the same day, so you can receive quotes for the vehicles accordingly.
The most important aspect of MSIG's motor insurance plans is that they provide the legally required coverage for your car. That is, MSIG provides S$5 million of property damage coverage, unlimited third party liability coverage (for death or injury to the other person) and up to the market value coverage for your car if it's damaged or lost.
Clearly targeted towards safe drivers, MSIG MotorMax is priced at or below the average of basic Comprehensive policies for drivers who have reached a 50% NCD. New drivers, on the other hand, will typically see premiums that are above the market average. For instance, the male drivers of a sedan who have a 50% NCD can expect to pay premiums that are 5-11% below average. Women and safe drivers of luxury cars and SUVs expect to pay just below the market average. This is in comparison to young drivers in their 20's who will pay premiums that are 19-25% above the market average for comprehensive plans or drivers with 0% NCD who will pay slightly above the market average.
MotorMax Plus, the premium version of the MotorMax plan costs around S$30 above average when comparing across all the comprehensive plans on the market. However, when comparing the Plus plan to other higher tier Comprehensive plans, we find that MotorMax Plus is fairly competitively priced. For instance, drivers with 50% NCDs will pay 5-11% below average premiums compared to other top-tier comprehensive motor insurance plans. In a similar pattern to MotorMax, new drivers will end up paying slightly above average.
MSIG's MotorMax plan provides a comfortable assortment of benefits that can be useful to the average driver. For instance, in addition to the legally required third party and comprehensive damage and loss benefits, MSIG offers S$20,000 of personal accident coverage for your driver and your passengers and S$1,000 of medical coverage for the policyholder, passenger and/or authorised driver. While the personal accident and medical benefits may not be the highest on the market, the fact that they're extended to your passengers is a rather rare feature, since other insurers may require you to pay extra to include this coverage.
You'll also have access to an Auto Assistance helpline, which will provide emergency towing, roadside assistance and other car accident-related requests. Lastly, you'll also have emergency medical evacuation and repatriation if you get into an accident within the geographical limits (i..e. West Malaysia, parts of Thailand that are 80km of the border between Thailand and West Malaysia).
MSIG's MotorMax Plus provides all the benefits that MotorMax provides and more. Most impressive is its S$100,000 car loan protection benefit, which will pay the outstanding loan on your vehicle if you were to pass away after a car accident. The only other insurer who offers that is Etiqa, for an additional cost. MSIG's Plus plan also offers a new for old replacement if your car is less than 12 months old when it gets into an accident that is irreparable as well as a transport allowance benefit (S$50 per day up to 10 days) if your car is at the auto shop for more than 3 days.
As noted with the pricing, MSIG is less competitive if you are a new driver. Furthermore, it's lack of car accessory coverage makes it less optimal for drivers who value things like their stereo and entertainment systems. Furthermore, while the pricing equity between men and women can be viewed as a positive, it may make MSIG's car insurance plans less attractive to female drivers, who will find cheaper rates from several other insurers.
