My Mac barely has no space left. Therefore, I need to move my Sims mods onto my external hard drive. I've understood that this also means I need to move the game itself. Can anyone give me instructions as to how I successfully move mods and Sims 4 onto an external hard drive on a MacBook?

Edit - after a little testing with @puzzlezaddict it turns out that an older version of macOS shows the proper Finder window, not this ugly Origin version. Which macOS are you running? In the screenshot you posted it shows your external drive as the drive with the yellow icon so you should be able to choose that drive and not worry about the workaround instructions.

My issue is, my mods aren't showing up in game. I've ruled out the game being out of date, I've ruled out incompatible mods, I've ruled out mod formatting/extraction, and I have enabled both CC and script mods in game. I've tried the delete your mod folder-> boot up the game -> new mod folder should spawn thing, because I think my issue is that I'm missing the mods resource.cfg file that I've seen mentioned here? Because when I installed the game the first time there was no mods folder and I had to make my own. So, I deleted the mods folder that I made and booted up the game and no matter how many times I did it- switching the 'enable mods' on and off- I cannot get a mods folder to spawn. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game and the issue is still there.

From your pics, you are showing the program files. You should not touch those files or folders. If you have been creating a mods folder there, then it's no wonder that your mods don't show up in the game. It's the wrong place and the game will never find them.

Where you need to look is in Documents>Electronic Arts. There should be a folder there named "The Sims 4". That is your user folder. And within it you should find a number of files and folders that hold mods, saves, screenshots, tray, overrides, etc. The mods folder there should be empty and is where your mods go.

Have you tried a folder reset by creating a new user folder (The Sims 4). Just rename your current one and restart the game. A new one will be created automatically. You'll have to go through making the sim and placing them and resetting your Gameplay settings in Game Options. Then save and exit. Take a look at your user folder and see if you have a Mods folder. If you do, then you can copy or move your Saves, Tray, ConfigOverride, Screenshots, and Custom Music folders from the old user folder to the new. Then add your mods to the Mods folder. Start the game and see if your mods and CC show up in game. They should. If they don't, then something else is going on. Your game should not need repair since you reinstalled everything, but you can try doing that if the mods don't show up as well.

I'm sorry either I'm doing something wrong or it's just not working, but could you further specify which folder I should rename? I can't find a folder that looks like it contains any of the info that would affect what you've mentioned. Maybe the name is just different on my computer? Additionally, any attempt to rename any folders is being denied because it's 'in use'. The game isn't open, and EA isn't running so I'm not really sure how to bypass that.

I'm having a similar problem, except my Mods folder isn't creating even from the correct documents location. I've used Mods before fine...but I've done all the things the original poster said he did, plus restarted and created new games. The Mods folder won't spawn, and the old one I copied from a previous folder won't work.

I've spent days trying to fix this. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, checked so many Youtube videos, toggled the CC and Mods/Script option in game but nothing works and now the folder won't even show up.

I currently have the Sims 4 completely vanilla and unsurprisingly don't play it at all. With the new forums being quite confusing to navigate, I'm really sorry if this has already been covered or asked a million times.

Does anyone have any links to a thread or tutorial around which SIms 4 mods are key to playing the game? I modded Sims 3 quite a lot so the kinds of mods I'm looking for are things that enhance general gameplay (I'll be looking into MCCC as I loved Master Controller for 3) and make things generally more interesting like adding in careers or options. I'm not interested in **bleep** as an FYI ? This might be far too vague but if there are any master lists or recommendations please point me in the right direction!

Following the period of rest, your Sim and other Sims around them will have additional dialogue and action options based on that dream and their new feelings, including asking questions about their dream and researching what they might mean.

Made by Sacrificial mods, the zombie apocalypse mod is heavily inspired by Resident Evil, and can see your Sims become terrified or zombified. Trigger a zombie apocalypse with an incredibly cool story mechanic, then decide whether you want to survive or infect.

RoBurky returns with another mod that changes how your sim reacts to life events and personal experiences in the game. The Meaningful Stories mod ensures that your sim expresses their emotions to the people who matter or are important to them and will affect how those memories stay with them throughout their life.

For mod fans who want to get into the nitty-gritty details of playing The Sims, then check out the MC Command Center mega-mod by Deaderpool. This mod is a collection of smaller mods that give you the power to make small adjustments and tweaks to how sims live their lives.

As it is now becoming clear that large collections of addons in the community folder can really slow down the sim startup, various techniques are being used out here to restrict the number of thes addons active at startup.

It would be useful to be able to add/remove or activate/deactivate scenery addons from within the running sim (as is done in P3D, for instance) without having to shut the sim down, make changes, and restart.

There should be a way to reload the community folder as an option in the simulator. Just the community mods. For now, whenever a mod is added its necessary to leave the software and start it again. This option could improve the simulator loading time and even performance as the community folder could be left just with the essential files and the user would select the wanted mods before flying to a specific area.

The problem is that the sim indexes every file (not every mod, every file) during initial startup which is what takes forever. Even a quick refresh to check if anything has been moved or added - and then to only process anything changed - would be welcome.

My question is if MSFS can quickly scan the community folder, for new/updated Aircraft or scenery when you click the window to enter that list of Aircraft, however as rhumbaflappy said, a button would be even better as you would only scan if you have added, or updated, item(s) to your community folder.

Home Regions changes the game so that NPCs, such as vendors or Sims walking in the background, will be Sims living in that local World (i.e. only Willow Creek residents will show up at Willow Creek venues, only Sims that live in Oasis Springs will show up in Oasis Springs). Sims you specifically invite via phone, club event, or group system are exempt, as are certain roles where it is necessary for gameplay.

If there are not enough Sims in the World to fill a necessary role, the game will automatically generate homeless Sims who live in that World. Sims generated this way will remember their World, and will keep showing up there.

Note: Homeless sims will not get generated infinitely, only enough to satisfy the game's requirements for NPCs, but this mod will very likely increase the population in your save file.

Home Regions changes several game filters so that the NPCs the game chooses make more sense, even beyond what World they come from. College parties won't be full of Elders, Sims traversing the Magic Realm will actually be Spellcasters, etc.
