Greetings Colleagues

I would like to appreciate you all for the work you are doing in furthering the Gideon Ministry in Malawi.

The Regional Conference for Africa South ended on Tuesday evening - 24th. January 2017, in Mombasa -  and I presented a report based on the information I received from camps that were able to do so. Surely if all camps had submitted reports on goals they set and achievements made our report would have been much better.  I am pleased to inform you that as of December 31, 2016, Malawi has done well on Distribution, Receipts, 2017 Membership Renewals and opening of new camps. On receipts - apart from Namibia - we have done better than Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia. Our report is attached for your information.

The meeting was graced by Brother Garry Richardson, the Chief Operations Officer at headquarters

In closing the meeting we made resolutions and below are some which require immediate attention of all of us:-

Scripture Receipts
Nashville is short of funds to print scriptures, it was agreed that those camps that are still holding offering collected from the churches should send them to the Country Treasurer as soon as possible. Camp Members including Auxiliaries who pledged to contribute to the Scripture Fund should be reminded to honour their pledges an let the camp Treasurer remit the funds as soon as they receive them.

Church Assignments
In order to raise more funds it was agreed that each camp should hold a minimum of 5 Church Assignments in February 2017, and each camp to report to the Church Ministry Coordinator by 5 February 2017, the church assignments they have planned to hold. Camps should also take advantage of SpeakUP365 which falls on 11 February 2017, to qualify Church Speakers. Would the Church Ministry Coordinator send information to all camps on the Speakup365 Day please.

2017 Renewals
Each country has been asked to be reporting every two weeks to the Regional Director on progress of renewals. We still have some camps whose members are yet to pay dues - Chitipa, Karonga, Dowa, Kasungu, Dwangwa, Ntcheu, Nsanje, Mulanje, Mzuzu North, Mzuzu South - let us encourage members to do so as soon as possible as we cannot afford to lose more members.

Use of Gideon Emblem on WhatsApp Groups
The meeting appreciated the use of WhatsApp as a good means of communication in camps in many countries in Region 5. However, the meeting resolved that Gideon Emblem Icon should not be used as this is a protected image. Let us also encourage members to post Gideon related messages; this follows a message that is alleged to have been posted on one of the groups elsewhere discrediting the Muslim Faith.

Mini Scripture Blitz {es}
Camps are encouraged to hold Scripture Blitzes between now and May 15, 2017 to assist  "Weaker Camps" to achieve their goals.

May I encourage you members of the Leadership Team to ensure that the camps in which we serve take lead in carrying out camp activities and send reports on monthly basis so that we all contribute in achieving the Vision 2020.

God bless and good evening
