It's yet the third time that I update Firefox since my Zorin installation and every time I open Firefox again I have to re-install Italian, but why? It's annoying, despite it's updated rarely, but not a so-smart behavior .
True, but even i do not use that one. I copied the folder just to /home/.local/firefox and i create my own shortcut to add it to the panel. The shortcut can be created under /home/(your username)/.local/share/applications/firefox.dekstop
Come on, I hoped it was finally fixed but this morning after the update I saw it again , moreover after a restart, that usually doesn't make it happen. For me, it's something to fix about the Zorin package as updating Firefox on Windows laptops I never had this issue with the language. Note that after opening it this morning I checked languages installed on Firefox settings and Italian was missing, but of course I updated everything, including Italian language pack. But even if I wouldn't update the language pack this shouldn't mean that Firefox delete the actual one.
Previously In Firefox, when you opened a 2nd session it said that Firefox was being updated by another instance and the option to Check for Updates was greyed out but you could still update Firefox in the main session.
5) Sorry, I should have been clearer. If Safe Money is disabled and you open a bookmark in a New Private Window, then the normal update message is there. If Safe Money is enabled and you open a bookmark in a New Private Window which then opens a Safe Money Window, the update message changes to "Firefox is being updated by another instance" in all windows and the Settings. Once you close the Safe Money window, the Firefox updating and message returns to normal in all windows, so there is something about opening a Safe Money Window that changes it.
I typically use Chrome but I do have firefox and just updated it and tested it out and it does seem to be working for me, which I know isn't helpful for you, but does rule it not in fact working on any firefox browser. Are you running any extensions or something that could be interfering with it?
Based on feedback from miguel above, I noticed some strange messages in the journalctl -e about the firefox extension KDE Plasma Integration, something do with sockets. My firefox installs are synced so I get a common set of extensions, and sometimes I use KDE Plasma, although all the four installs I am talking about here are Ubuntu (gnome). I removed that extension and did a firefox refresh on all the desktops. ON each desktop the update to 114.0b7 worked. Immediately after exiting Firefox, snap changes shows the update starting and it takes around 10 seconds or so (I did not time this).
I reinstalled Firefox, because my profile was crashing. I backed up my /.mozilla folder to some other place, uninstalled firefox and installed it again.New firefox wasn't crashing. So I copied one of my backup up old profile to new firefox, and that profile was crashing again.
You can copy this addon to your new/selected profile by right mouse click open as than select firefox start the profile you wanna install to or select open file from your firefox menu and you can easy install that addon from this package
Following this Tutorial I was able to get firefox working again by switching to a new profile and switching back to my old profile. However starting firefox from the terminal still produces the aforementioned output. Additionally, I noticed that the minimize, maximize, close buttons for firefox don't match the system's anymore when I change to another firefox theme other than the default, when it previously did before the update. For my system information, I am using an nvidia gpu and using the cinnamon desktop.
I see. But i don't understand why firefox didn't even open the first time. I saw that the terminal output of option mesa_glthread being overwritten is normal for firefox. But I'm not sure about the first two messages of VA-API not working. There doesn't seem to be any specific reason given to why it caused an error unlike some other threads I've seen that do.
The messages still show, so in that way the problem still exists. However, after refreshing my firefox profile, firefox can actually start now. I will try installing the nvidia drivers to see if anything changes.
