TheXbox Series X is putting the "box" back in "Xbox." This console will be the most backward compatible, powerful, and sleek console designed so far. Xbox fanboys are finally at ease now that the system has a robust lineup of exclusive games. Ray tracing hardware and games at 120 frames per second isn't bad either.
The Xbox Games Showcase was an eye-opening event that featured trailers for titles all coming to Xbox Game Pass. New players will come for Xbox Game Pass, but they'll stay for the game exclusives. Here's ranking the ten most wanted games for the Xbox Series X.
Dying Light 2 is parkour meets the zombie survival horror genre. It's confirmed that Dying Light 2 will come to the Xbox Series X. Keep in mind that this game's been in development for quite some time. It was first announced at E3 2018 during an Xbox press conference. Undoubtedly, developer Techland is the right company to spearhead this project. They did a phenomenal job adding content to Dying Light post-release.
This game is highly optimized for the Xbox Series X. As an exclusive, The Medium features patented "dual-reality gameplay." You'll be immersed in physical and spiritual worlds at the same time without the need for loading screens. It's too early to tell how this game will turn out, but it shows much promise in its early phase. The Medium is coming to Xbox Series X as a launch game for the platform in Holiday 2020.
Although the story has become more convoluted with each branching story, Assassin's Creed continues to prove relevant. The series' addictive gameplay, polished artwork, and various settings set new precedents for the industry.
The upcoming Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be widely available for platforms like Google Stadia, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. It's based on the Viking invasion of Britain but follows fictional events. Raiding villages as Eivor (a female or male protagonist depending on your choice) will be too memorable.
The original Psychonauts had lackluster sales figures, yet the game has since earned a cult following. Psychonauts 2's recently released gameplay trailer showcased what the devs at Double Fine have been working on. The game is more colorful but is still a platformer like its predecessor. Also, Jack Black will provide his voice in the game after already singing in the official gameplay trailer. Psychonauts 2 will be a day one Xbox Game Pass title.
Forza Motorsport is an Xbox essential. It became the Xbox's definitive racing series after Project Gotham Racing ended on the Xbox 360. Forza Motorsport is coming to the Xbox Series X, and Turn 10 Studios isn't shying away from the latest technology like ray tracing and 4K at 60 frames per second. They will look at games from the entire series for inspiration and not just the most recent ones. Forza Motorsport is expected to release in 2021.
The devs at Ninja Theory are preparing for a wide release with their latest action-adventure game. Senua's Saga: Hellblade II appears to be more ambitious than the original game, although it will still profoundly address mental health issues.
Coming to both Xbox Series X and PC, Avowed is an upcoming RPG from Obsidian Entertainment. It's early for making guesses, yet the game is looking like an offspring of Skyrim and Pillars of Eternity.
This multi-platform game is shaping up to be one of the hottest Xbox Series X games. Cyberpunk 2077 is a role-playing game set in a dystopian society. The game blends technological advancements with pervasive poverty. This game has been in development for almost ten years, but earnest development didn't occur until people became interested in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (a game from the same developer). The gameplay videos show promise, and this could be the Xbox Series X's best game.
Fable 4 is one of the several highly anticipated RPGs set to release for Xbox Series X. July's Xbox Games Showcase was an eye-opening event. Possibly the biggest surprise was the announcement of a new Fable game. Fable was a leading RPG on the original Xbox and Xbox 360.
The headliner from the Xbox Games Showcase was Halo Infinite. It kicked off the event with a lengthy gameplay trailer. Master Chief now has a grappling hook! Halo Infinite will support free-to-play multiplayer, which could fundamentally shift the way we think about Halo. Could 343 Industries be alluding to a battle royale mode?
Halo Infinite uses an art style reminiscent of the early games. The decision to go back to the series' roots is a divisive one. However, the gameplay demo is not a final representation, and there's lots of time to turn it around.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted received positive reviews, which focused on the world map that blended the styles of previous Burnout and Need for Speed games, and the social features, while criticism fell on the single-player mode. The game has won several awards, including the 2012 Spike Video Game Awards for Best Driving Game and was nominated for Best British Game and Best Online Multiplayer at the 2013 BAFTA Awards, and was repeatedly recognized as the best driving/racing game of 2012 by several outlets.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted is set in an open world environment. The game takes on the gameplay style of the first Most Wanted title in the Need for Speed franchise; the contrast difference is the 2012 Most Wanted does not contain a story. Most Wanted allows players to select one car and compete against other racers in three types of events: Sprint races, which involves traveling from one point of the city to another, Circuit races, each having two or three laps total and Speed runs, which involve traversing through a course in the highest average speed possible. There are also Ambush races, where the player starts surrounded by cops and must evade their pursuit as quickly as possible.
Cops are integrated into certain racing sessions, in which the police deploy vehicles and tactics to stop the player's car and arrest the player, like the original Most Wanted.[11] The game features a Most Wanted List of 10 racers, similar to the Blacklist in the single-player section of the original Most Wanted, which featured 15 racers. As the Most Wanted racers are defeated, their cars are added to the player's roster the moment the player wrecks them.[12][13] In this reiteration, the focus shifts from Rockport, the city in the original, to a new city called Fairhaven.
Fairhaven resembles a regular city. It has a beach and an industrial district. It has a main highway dubbed I-92 that stretches across the city. The gameplay of Most Wanted has been likened to that of the Burnout series. Unlike the game's spiritual predecessor Burnout Paradise, the races have checkpoints that you must pass through instead of just having a start and end. Destructible billboards and fences; and drive-through repair garages, all of which originated from Paradise, are also featured.
The game uses Autolog, the competition-between-friends system developed by Criterion for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, and since used in other titles in the Need for Speed series. Autolog in Most Wanted plays a larger role and gives more information to players. Activities in-game allow players to earn Speed Points which can boost players up on the Most Wanted list. Autolog recommendations have now been integrated into the game world, rather than sit externally on the menu system.[14] Most Wanted features a new social system called Cloudcompete, which strings together Most Wanted across all platforms in an inspired example of cross-compatibility. One profile is used for all versions of the game, allowing the player to rank up on one format and continue progress on another.[15][16]
The driving model of the game has been described as "deep, physical and fun", not as arcade-styled as the Burnout series and Hot Pursuit, but far from a simulator. Most Wanted has a range of real-world vehicles, a mix of muscle cars, street racers and exotics, described as "the wildest selection of cars yet".[6] The cars can be altered with performance upgrades, such as reinflatable tires, transmission, engine, nitrous oxide, and body work that enables players to crash through roadblocks, have a higher top speed, and accelerate faster.[17] A feature called EasyDrive enables players to modify their vehicle performance while in usage. Almost all the cars are available from the start, hidden in different locations throughout Fairhaven; the player has to discover them in order to unlock them.[18]
The Wii U version was retitled to Need for Speed: Most Wanted U. It includes content from the previously released Ultimate Speed Pack,[19] and offers three unique features that take advantage of the Wii U GamePad to make it the "Enhanced Version."[20]
This version supports Off-TV Play, which is the ability to play the game exclusively on the Wii U GamePad, independently from the television.[9][21] There is also a new co-op mode, called Co-Driver, that supports two players: one player drives using a Wii Remote or the Wii U Pro Controller and another uses the Wii U GamePad to provide control and navigation assistance on an interactive real-time map.[19] The Wii U GamePad can also be used to change mods and switch cars.[19]
The Wii U version of the game also includes full Miiverse integration, which is the first for a third-party game on Wii U. The game also includes three secret vehicles which are exclusive to the Wii U version, all which allude to the Mario franchise characters Mario, Peach, and Yoshi. These secret vehicles can each be accessed via hidden entrances, shaped like the iconic Warp Pipes from the series, on various tracks. Finding all the secret vehicles unlocks secret license plates which further confirm the allusion of these characters. Besides the included Ultimate Speed Pack, there is no DLC for the Wii U version of the game.[22]
