Dear (enter Professor/Professional’s name),

On behalf of GlobeMed at UCLA, we would like to invite you to speak at our first annual
Global Career Panel on May 14th, 2013 from 6 P.M. to 7:30 P.M.

GlobeMed is a student-run, non-profit organization that aims to strengthen the movement
for global health equity by empowering students and communities to work together to
improve the health of people living in poverty around the world. Our chapter here at
UCLA is partnered with the Nwoya Youth Center in Anaka, Uganda. We help fundraise
for the center throughout the year and send a team of students in the summer to work
along side the center’s staff to monitor and evaluate current projects and formulate new
ones. Our current programs include sanitary pad distributions for adolescent girls,
condom awareness and education, counseling and outreaches to special needs groups
such as Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), HIV-positive adolescents.

Not only are we focused on working with our partner, but we also have a commitment to
educate others and ourselves about global health. In addition to our weekly curriculum in
meeting, we organize events to educate the community such as documentary screenings,
activity fairs and panel discussion. We felt that a panel centered on careers in global
health and international development would greatly benefit many of the members of
GlobeMed and the UCLA community at large.

We would be honored if you would speak at our panel. You would be asked introduce
yourself, give a brief summary of your work and answer any questions that students may
have. Please let us know if you are interested. Thank you.

Sincerely,

GlobeMed at UCLA
